Football Manager/Championship Manager: Champ Man before Football Manager. Sometimes used to go through several seasons in a day just because.

Fallout 3: Ridiculously addictive

Metal Gear 1,3 and 4: Badly addictive, it's a shame the second one didn't infect me the same way, but I've played through all of them at least 15 times each.

Hotel Dusk. I remember saying "I'm gonna draw this one out." Two says later, I was halfway to the end. It was such a good game.

For 9 solid months it was Final Fantasy 11: Online.

The last game I played that I had this problem with was Tropico 3. I don't know how that game can be that fun.
Perhaps you can help me understand the bloody game. Every time I start doing well all my workers suddenly stop growing me crops. It's the one game I'd completely obsess over if I didn't think it hated me.

Once I start a game of Civilization (any incarnation, doesn't matter) I don't stop for about fifteen hours.

Though Playing multiplayer Time splitters 2&3 with my mates is always AWESOME!!
Beware the MONKEY!
In TS2, Did you ever play 18 computer AI monkeys vs you and a friend? That was funny. You used to watch these monkeys all rush in a massive bee-swarm. One of the funniest things in a game I've ever seen.

Fable 2. The "comunity" can say what it wants about games like GTA 4 and fable 2 but I enjoyed them because i didn't follow the development of the games for years. I picked it up for 20 dollars and played it constantly (games pretty short but fun to replay....although the tutorial gets pretty annoying)
Same here I barely listen to the hype they through out in the games. If the game is playable and fun then you shouldn't care about the hype; it ruins everything.

Left 4 Dead and Half Life 2. They're the only games that have ever gotten the 'I should have had dinner an hour ago' response out of me.

...

And then I continue playing.

Probably Mass Effect 2. I started playing it at 12 in the afternoon and finished at 5 in the morning. Assassins Creed 2 takes close second.

In recent memory the only game I can think of is Fallout 3. I hated it when I first played it but when I tried it a second time I couldn't put it down.

Too Human. As shit and godawful as it was, I just couldn't bring myself to put a bullet into it.

Goldeneye for the 64. Still can't stop playing it. Played it once a month at the very least for the past 11 years. Own 6 copies. I beat once 100% then get a new one. I know I'm strange that way.

Also, the one game I could stop playing, and not because it was bad but because it messes with my head way too much is Eternal Darkness. Most mind-frakking game I've ever played. I play it for an hour and then have to stop and cry holding myself in the fetal position in the shower with my clothes on.

There's actually a short list really:

Twisted Metal 2. This one I played for years. I beat it once for every single character and even had a piece of paper where I wrote down every single level code for every character. On top of that I played the multi-player for years after. Then I bought Twisted Metal: Black and did pretty much the same thing (as I did with Twisted Metal 4...ish. I only beat it like 3 or 4 times but I play it a lot with a friend with our customed rides. Not the best game but still real fun).

Bioshock: I beat it about 3 times and am probably still going to beat it. I had the best of times with this game though the ending was a bit of a let down. I'm actually playing Bioshock 2 and I think its also brilliant. I'm going to play through the single player a couple of times and am definitely enjoying the multi-player. I'm glad I got the Special Edition (yes...I am a huge fan)

Valkyria Chronicles: Beat the campaign mode once and am working through my New Game Plus. I also beat every single skirmish on both easy, medium and hard. I'm also working towards all the upgrades. Great game.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends: This was my addiction for a looooooooong time. Was just bloody brilliant. My first turn-based RPG and I haven't looked back since.

a lot of games keep me playing throughout the night. actually, nearly every game i buy does that ^_^ the few that don't are just not nearly as good, i suppose.
Games i loved so much i hated to see them end, though, were kingdom hearts 1 and final fantasy x. they're not even my favorite games, but they drew me in emotionally quite powerfully
