What's the point of...

...Really vague thread titles? I mean, dontcha just hate it when a topic sounds interesting, but turns out to be another religious discution? Sure some of em are worth it, but others are plain annoying. What are your thoughts, people?

(Yes, I am aware of the hypocrisy)

It could be that some people are just looking to make a thread that will get alot of views and replies so they can get a badge. Others can sometimes just be looking to see who is so bored and doing nothing better than to look at some random threads on the Escapist. (Says the one ignoring mountains of homework and sitting on her computer doing nothing better. Man... I feel like a hypocrit SO often.)

I am guessing the point is to make the reader curious and make him click (and possibly comment) on a thread that he/she normally wouldn't look at. Or it has something to do with the title making perfect sense in the head of the author but everyone else perceives it differently.
