So basically, this is allowed in Austrailia, but Silent Hill Homecoming isn't?
Eh at least we get downpour. I dont really care if I'm honest. I live in Queensland and trust me the gaming community hasn't got shit on the economy. So yeah when they fix that up (along with our unemployment rates) then I'll put more thought into gaming. As it is I am just damn happy I can afford to buy games.

(i personally thiink its ridiculous) but the reasoning for movies less then games is becaus ein games if you rip a guys head off with a knife... its you controlling that... you shooting the enemies with your control. but a movie just goes how it goes.

It is like this because we have an R18 rating for movies but don't yet have one for games so currently anything that is deemed unacceptable for 15 year olds is banned. Having said this since Left 4 Dead 2 the only notable games to get censored/banned were The Witcher 2 (really minor thing) and Mortal Kombat.

Look. I hate censorship, but I wish our government banned that film like the U.K has. Not for any real moral reasons, I just actually really enjoy good cinema, and every time a film like that makes a cent it makes it harder for good films to be released...

The Australian game classification system is apparently going to be over hauled in the somewhat near future, which is a god send for adults in Australia who are fed up with being patronised by the lack of an R18+ rating. I for one, will also be mercilessly mocking anyone I know who actually watches that crass, pointless, piece of torture porn known as Human Centipede 2. The first one shouldn't even have existed, let alone a sequel. But I digress.

On the small breasts censorship, can't some brave and small breasted model legally chalenge this?

'This is my job, and they're effectively saying I'm doing it for paedophiles, this law needs to scrapped, there's nothing in the world wrong with enjoying looking at a slender female adult body' *whispers* you batshit crazy, pedo obsessed fucks.

Honestly, if I was a model who did nudes, and I was told just because of the size of my breasts I was encouraging child rape, I'd be mad as hell.

I guess it won't affect videogames too much while we design 99% of female characters as F cups or higher.

Seriously, on the videogames issue, I think that an 18 rating is simple logic, and ironically, the politicians just need to grow up.

Yes it is odd, which is one of the reasons why we don't like it. But you know politicians...

I wouldn't worry for long, it (the classification system) will get its long overdue overhaul soon enough.

I have more of an issue with it being banned in the UK, but maybe it's because I live there, and left Australia partially due to their political/social failings...

And yes, my mother is German, I can be as racist as I want in this regard. So nyah.

[Edit] Good gawds. I'm almost 33, and I'm saying "nyah" to a bunch of internet forum people at 1:15am when I have to be at work at 6am. I should really grow up. Or quit drinking.

(Read slowly, as if to a child) Because we're in the process of change?
Video games are a rather new medium to the world, and the legislative process is not a fast one. All things considered, having to wait for two years from when debate really starts to begin to when something is actually done is pretty good for us. As someone said earlier, it happened to movies, and before that stage musicals, and before that stage plays, and before that books. Each new form of media needs to be amalgamated into the cultural psyche before it registers on a political level.
I think we can thank the Wii quite a bit for making games seem less like a niche thing, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

How about, next time you're wondering about things like this you research it. Look up news articles by australian press related to it. Read essays or published articles regarding Australia compared to the world for censorship. Promise it'll be fun : P

Out of all things for a country to ban...

It seems both infuriating and frustrating, the latter of which probably makes up 90% of the anger because there is no logical reasoning behind it.
