I personally disrespect EA for the way they treat gamers. Im getting the impression that someone in EA thinks all gamers are retards, and no matter how bad their games are, gamers will be dumb enough to buy them. There wasnt a single game in 8 years from EA that had a soul in it(at least no game ive heard of), just a way to drain money. Ofcourse code wise their games are better(you keep giving them money to hire good programmers), but I'd rather play a great game that crashes every 20 minutes, than play a stable game that is completely dull and uninnovative, and speaking of innovation, FIFA series, NFS series, Medal of honour series, its like they ran out of ideas, and keep milking the same cow.
(pardon my bad english)

Okay, so I'm not gonna bother reading everything above because I have an answer, sorry if it's been said. EA was a very poor label last gen, with the exception of their sports games. Some games were just terribly glitchy and others weren't that much fun. Other than Medal of Honor I can't recall a non-sports game from EA that I really liked. I think it's just still spilling over from the last generation, because games they have made this generation have been great. So I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't understand it anymore than you but it might just be peoples unwillingness to change.

The DRM thing is pretty much THE big thing for a lot of us right now, especially we who found this site through Shamus Young's blog, where he talks about this issue a lot. The other thing is the "free" DLC meant to get us to pick up the game new, which does nothing at all for those without an internet connection on our consoles for whatever reason. (A policy that benefits the majority of your consumer base without doing ANYTHING for the not-so-minor minority is not a good policy, even if it is good business) And of course, there's the issue of killing online support for games that people still play, as they're only 2 years old.

The sad thing is, they aren't even the worst offenders in these areas. They're actually doing OK now. Most of the people giving them the most heat are the people who've always hated them.
Since my 360 died I've been toying with the idea of becoming pc only as I have a good enough gaming pc, the one thing that is stopping me (apart from Fable 3 for pc not truly being confirmed) is the thought of DRM

1) They translate games into languages other than English.
2) They think they can own information. Though this is not exclusive to them, they are one of the worst.
3) Many broken games and game series.

I think you're either 2 years too late, or you got Ubisoft and EA mixed up.

Since John Ricitello took over EA has grown in popularity again. Between the Dead Space IP, DICE IPs, especially Bad Company 2, and them harboring Respawn Entertainment (a.k.a. Post-Exodus Infinity Ward) EA seems far from hated right now.

Ubisoft on the other hand, is currently a joke. They're not even hated. You hate someone you consider malevolent, someone who's actions you consider were think were intended to harm or hurt. Ubisoft is just stupid. I think Shamus Young put it best [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/stolen-pixels/7265-Stolen-Pixels-175-Ubisoft]:

Ion Storm attempted to set the world record at diving and failed when they smacked their face off the diving board. Ubisoft set out to hit their face on the diving board, and succeeded.

I love EA.
They put out a lot of good and some mediocre.
Their EA Partners program really helps them and their partner.

They are trying to please everyone.
It may not seem like it because in doing that they kind of please no one.
They want to please developers, stockholders, gamers, etc...
It is because of that no one *really* wins, but I am a big supporter nonetheless.

1) DRM policy
2) Used game policy
3) Abuse of their developers
4) Reluctance to fund new IP as opposed to sequels & xpacs
5) Prioritizing hard release deadlines over quality
6) General sense of contempt for their customers

Project $10. Everyone other than PC gamers see it as a grab at the used game sales. (PC gamers just see it as tradition: continued).
