What's with all the pony stuff?

Hello fellow Escapists. I have been away from the Escapist for quite a while due to student stuff and came back recently to find a lot of love for my little pony. Am I missing something? Is it an inside joke or do people actually like it?

Also, to add a little more discussion, do any of you remember other Escapist fads? I remember not so long ago a lot of people's pics were of Jim Carey doin a lady gaga dance...

EDIT: I must say, I am slightly let down. A while back, Escapists would kindly answer the question of another Escapist. However, after returning from a break, USING THE SEARCH BAR, and making a thread after not being able to find the answer, almost all I seem to have recieved is people being slightly aggressive over the topic. I ask because I really do not know what is going on. (YES, STILL AFTER A SEARCH)

So, if you are just going to post a comment telling me to use the search bar, don't bother, you are wasting your time and my own and it is a tad late for that now.

OT: It's a cartoon show that's really damn good and has a great community. All the episodes are on YouTube. Don't be put off by the pilot though as is rather cheesy but still good none the less.

Yes. My Little Pony is very very big at the moment. A lot of people genuinely like it, more so, in fact, than those who only like it ironically. It's because a reboot called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic aired not so long ago and it became a huge thing because it was so well done (for a cartoon aimed at young girls).
You might wanna do some research- it's not limited to Escapist users. It's all oiver the interwebs at the moment. Or use the search bar.

Actually, search the internet in general. It's everywhere, so you're seeing a very small snapshot of the insanity that is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Then I suggest you broaden your search to the whole of the internet if you haven 't already.
The thing is, its not much use asking people whether or not it's good. As with anything, people who like it will tell you that it's amazing, and people will dont will claim it to be an absolute waste of time. You've got to make the decision yourself.
