Communism and Socialism are great- in theory. The only thing truely wrong with them is one thing in particular- people. Yes, people. Not one person that I could think of would accually spread all the money equally to everyone, at least not without skimming a little off the top first because come on all people are equel but some are more equel than others. And I guarentee that no one could truthfully say that they wouldn't take advantage of a system like that.

Obama is taking away our guns and wants to get rid of the presidential limit of 4 years. sounds bad to me.

But why should i work hard if i get paid the same as everyone else. If I work hard and run and run a good business then i should get paid more than the janitor at my business.

How about do switch to a mixed economy like in Canada where we get free healthcare and education AND industries and money are not controled by the government so you con't get corrupt governments... for the most part at least.

True communism is an ideal, that due to human nature, will never come to fruition. And that's what makes me sad.
um... it makes you sad that we aren't all little drones, replacible with gears or ants? personally, I think that free will (the bane of Communism, which asks us to leave thinking to the state) is a part of us most of us that, like alchohol, is the cause and solution to, most of our problems, but besides that, it is a part that most of us take for granted, and I find that sad.

AND, others believe that Obama will make America a communistic society.
But, i see no problem in this. Communism is a great idea if a country already has a stable economy, and hey, free healthcare would be great. It's a great idea it's just been used wrong.

So really, what's wrong with Communism?
Nothing, it's used everywhere, sorry to say. Capitalism is still an abstract form of communism.
We're given the illusion of choice, but really, the government owns everything. Freedom of speech no longer exists. You say something the government doesn't want you to, publicly and you're a dead man. Just accept it and move along like good sheep, don't try and buck the system, don't try and invent something that could help the world's economic climate or unsustainable fuel problems. The government won't let you.
Wow... a paranoid git against capatalism, how original XD

Everything we had drilled into our skulls since elementary school. America doesn't want it's citizens to think of communism as a good thing.

I had to go right ahead and fix that for you.

Everything in American society seems directed toward making people NOT think. From poorly funded schools to the annoying "U.S.A." chanting during electoral speeches.

For some reason, the U.S. has had an issue with even the word "Communism". I don't know why. Maybe it has to do with those old propoganda films that say "If you buy such-n-such from somebody, you are buying.. COMMUNISM!".
Huh, I never heard of that. If you provide links I would like to know more about those films!

Sure.
But we don't live in a perfect world - never have, never will.
Admittedly, I don't make a great study of these things (politics are boring,) but as far as I'm aware,

Communism on paper is a great idea, but it does not translate well into reality (unless you have a very small group of people who you trust). It only takes one person who decides to take advantage of everyone else and things start going to hell.

Every country shows its form of patriotism. Whats wrong with Chanting "USA" Should we get mad at the brits for singing "God bless the Queen"? It's just part of their culture

Look man, just leave, just leave. I've tried to deal with these people before. I spent a lot of time fighting for logic, but it doesn't sink in. If you back these people into a corner they can't get out of all they'll say is that you're a rich pig that sits in his mansion while kids in africa die.

Heres the truth about these people. They need so badly to be important, to be part of the uprising. To be worthy of their name being in the history books. Its an urge they don't understand. And it leads them to embrace the most illogical things. They will deny it because they don't realize it. They can't accept the world, they can't stagnate and be part of it. And they blame the government for putting them down, or they blame their employer who puts them down out of greed. Its a really complex psychological disorder, one that hasn't fully been explored by medical science. Just leave them alone. When they are 85 and the communist revolution hasn't happened, they'll just say their grandkids will free the world of the super rich and greedy capitalist pigs. I'm done fighting them, so i spend my time sifting through these threads to find the decent intelligent people like you, and i warn you. Stay away, just let them go off and feel like they have won. Take these words of wisdom from a war veteran in the crusade against ignorance and stupidity.

My face almost fell off from the laughter of that Freedom of Speech statement. So the protesters that called George Bush a war criminal got put away, right? Or how about the more recent one about the guy with the sign saying "Death to Obama, Death to his wife, and Death to his two dumb kids."?

Yeah, Freedom of Speech is dead alright. *rolls eyes*

Edit: As for the topic at hand...It just doesn't work. It'd be great if it did, so we could all go live happily ever after, but it just doesn't work. We must learn from history. I don't know why everyone is stuck on trying to make Communism work, meanwhile they should just come up with the next, new and improved government.

Yeah, I love those people. The same people that don't research we send plenty of aid to africa.. or did until they decided to strip land from white farmers through violence and force, giving it to black farmers (Can we say Racism? No wait, they aren't americans, so pocky eating, greenpeace loving, PETA believing people wil lfind excuse to call that NOT racism) and in turn, lowering their already in the negatives food production for their starving populous by over 80%...

What's with all the communist threads recently?
Oh well, I don't think it works very well, relies too much on the milk of human kindness, especially if you believe in pure communism as a form of anarchy. Socialism on the other hand has my support.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Socialism

Socialism
- noun
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/communism

?noun
1. a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.
2. (often initial capital letter) a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.
3. (initial capital letter) the principles and practices of the Communist party.

So... you support one but not the other... that makes no since, since there almost the same thing
