Whats wrong with the Matrix Sequels?

It seems like the Matrix sequels get a lot of hate, undeserved hate in my opinion. Yeah, the original was the best but Reloaded was a solid action flick (excluding the terrible title). Revolutions was definately the worst in the series, but was by no means "terrible"

Maybe I'm biased, because as a kid Reloaded was one of the five Dvds my dad owned, but I remember thouroughly enjoying it. I recently watched it again and found it enjoyable. If anything I like it better than the first. So whats the big deal? Yeah the first one was original, and it was pretty god but the sequels don't deserve all of the hate they get

Agreed to all lol, Reloaded i didn't mind at all. But the thing that really got me about Revolutions was the happy happy lala ending.

I kind of liked Reloaded, and even Revolutions, but the end left me with more questions and less answers. and Creating questions at the end of a trilogy is not a good thing to do.

I quite like all of the movies, even Revolutions which I was rather disappointed by at the time of it's release. My personal issue with them is the difference in tone from the first movie to the second and third. The first is nearly a horror film in many aspects. The second and third, however, are more "typical" action movies (though they certainly have a lot more intelligence than most action films).

I've never really understood the excessive, and unwarranted, hate Reloaded and Revolutions get either.

Just because I enjoyed the combat mechanic of the FFX-2, doesn't exactly make that worth playing for more than once.

I think people just feel the follow-up movies to one of the greatest Sci-fi films of all time should have been better than they were. I could do without Revolution but Reload had some great choreography in it.

I love the first movie, I think the second one has some ok ideas but is generally bad and I think the third one is completely terrible. My beef with two and 3 is that now that Neo is a god nobody really worries about anything. I mean look at the final movie Trinity dies and he basically shrugs his shoulders and moves on. And don't even get me started on the fact that for some unexplained reason Neo can now use his powers outside of The Matrix.

The first movie had the right ratio of dialogue and revoultionary action scenes. It is the Blade Runner of its time and the sequals felt like they were written and directed by a completely different group of people that crowbarred in needless action sequences which weren't even good. The first burly brawl fight in Reloaded was a terrible CGI fest that was boring and ugly. In revolutions Neo's final fight with Smith has the same problem not to mention the fight in zion which was dull because it was monotonous and way too long. No fight scene in either of the films can compare to any fight in the first film.

That's what I was going to say.

The first movie ended in a way that made your imagination run wild with speculation since Neo practicaly became god of the cyber world. But in the sequels he still just kung-fu's around like a little child. Why didn't he just jump into people all the time to make them explode from inside?

First one was good and they should have drawnn the line there. That said when I stick the DVD I hop a couple of chapters because the start is a tad slow.

For the other two - I liked Trinity more than Neo, I liked Morpheous more than Neo. Keanu Reeves is beyond wooden and I found it hard (and not worth the trouble) to really get behind Neo as a messiah. And the ending of the 3rd one sucked. Eurgh. And some of the special effects sucked (I am looking at you now "Burly brawl").

Because it doesn't live up to original, the shitness of something is relative, the others are shit in comparison to the original matrix. Compared to other action films they might not be so bad, but a lot of people can't get past the original.

I don't actually mind the sequels, and i see them getting a lot of undeserved hate. But i do wonder at Revolution's ending.....

I didn't mind 2 and 3, but the Animatrix was better than both imo. Reloaded has a fair few scenes in that I like, the epic car chase which would have been so much better had Neo not just god moded and decided to fly and pick people up, the Key Maker is awesome, the Merovingian was pretty cool, Smith hasn't become all that different from the Smith in 1 so he's still pretty cool, but Revolutions only has the scene with the mechs (Mechs + Matrix I never understood either) inside Zion (how did that city get there again?) fighting the army of sentinels which I think is any good at all.

The ending blows as well.

I loved all the Matrix movies, and I am a big fan of the trilogy. I think they deserve more respect and they deserve more attention. The movie can be interpreted in so many ways. The second and third movie should be just as appreciated as the first one.

The reason why not, is because the first one set the bar high; Really high. It is revolutionary in every way; acting, story telling, effects and graphics. The base plot of the MAtrix trilogy is explained in the first movie, that's why there is no reason to go as deep in the following movies. The movies can be subtitled : MAtrix: Enter The Matrix, Matrix 2: Dream world, and Matrix 3: The real world.

The second movie is all about showing us the progression inside the Matrix, and Neos's change of power and taking control of his true element; the Matrix. Where "The Matrix" spawned our interest, the "Matrix: Reloaded" continues the story further inside the Matrix. This movie shows the struggle and problems of the Matrix.

The third movie takes us back to the real world and explore Neo's new found powers here. The machines attack Zion, and the humans are forced to respond in a battle of control. Here we see a welcome change as when Neo suddenly has control outside the Matrix. Can the Prophecy be right? Will Neo stop the neverstopping war?

It is a great trilogy, and I wish I could write more, but I don't have the time right now. Go watch it

Personally, I don't like how preachy Reloaded and Revolutions get. The blatant religious references get pretty irritating.
