I like the aging, world-weary, emotionally stunted male lead who thinks he's been everywhere, seen everything and been utterly underwhelmed by it all, a father figure to the feisty yet naiive and young female main character.

He spends the whole story saying things like 'I have a bad feeling about this.' or 'Are you sure this is wise.' but actually enjoys nothing more than being under pressure or being in the middle of a good, loud, edge of the seat, gun fight.

The great thing about this character is that he works well in either Fantasy, Sci-Fi, supernatural or Real-life scenarios. Just give him a slightly different, but nonetheless MASSIVE gun and he can fit in almost any genre.
