Mr. Underson said:
"Don't be a dick."

It has served me well and covers every situation I come across.
yupp agreed. not being a dick and being open minded tends to work very very well in just about any situation.

also, one i'd like to add is, "If your questioning saying something, then don't say it, keep your mouth shut."

that will save you many, many times, as you have no idea how everyone around you will react when you might mention/say something a potentially personal/attacking.

Serves me well.

I always try to remember that "assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups," if a quote from a Steven Seagal movie can ever count as philosophy.

"Just ignore the idiots"

Lots of racists and "christian" fundamentalists here in small town East Texas.

Not all of them are always idiots of course but i find it much less stressful to simply ignore the more minor things I don't agree with.

"Be nice to other people, and try to make another persons day a little better"
or
"You don't live in an active war-zone, you have nothing to complain about"
or
"OK you know history well enough to know that you're pretty darn lucky so take advantage"

Pretty much these three but it depends on my mood.

Knowledge is power.

It doesn't matter what kind of knowledge it is the more you have the better off you are. Even useless trivia is at least cool to have because it makes for good conversation.

Mine would probably be incredibly wise words I got from my father. Specifically, "Life's a *****, then you die."

It really summarizes my worldview quite well. Life is full of turmoil and struggle. You may as well make as much of it as you can, because it's not going to last forever.

"To fight is to live, to not is to die"

If you aren't trying to make an impact of some kind you might as well be dead for all it matters. So it is always best to fight for what is right, in one way or another.

Mine is pretty simple.

~ For The Greater Good ~

Basically it means that I do everything for the greater good of everything.

1.) Honesty is not the best policy, sometimes the lie is far kinder.

2.) There is a part of you that is selfish. Never deny it, try to control it, indulge when appropriate and when there is little potential for damage to anyone.

3.) What you think is right is what you should do. You will fail far more times than you like, but so does everyone. Admit it and move on to try to do better next time.

I Always try to stay away from idealism. It's really pretty but it's useless to try to live by since no one can ever meet it.

"Good" or "Evil", "Right" or "Wrong", are generic terms that vary from people to people or society to society. It's all a matter of perspective.

"Treat others the way you want to be treated."

It covers all the bases.

If someone is kind to you, be kind to them back. After all, if I were going out of my way to help someone, I'd want to see a little appreciation. Just a nod or thank you.

However, if someone is being a complete asshole, then you're completely in you're right to do something about it.

If it were me being a dick, I'd want someone to intervene before I did something I regret.

That's basically how I've lived my life, it's worked out so far.
