So, in "thread based around pointless question #2239 for the sake of stimulating discussion," quick question - what's your PC/Mac's desktop background, if you have one.

For me myself, it's from one of the loading screens of StarCraft, showing numerous moons in the sky from the surface of an alien world. I mean, looks pretty, and I like space, so, um, yeah.

The same one I had last time this question was asked (and before that as well, I think).
Which is also the avatar I chose after the tech team was let go and the free pubclub happened.

I love space and Sci-Fi stuff and is always looking for interesting backgrounds but nothing has captured the same feel as this one yet.

I currently have a screenshot from skyrim as background. I also often have something spacey. Like stars or planets. They're always darker backgrounds though, since I don't want a bright background contrasting the game I just closed.

Black.

Why would I have a background? I'm almost never on my desktop. I only look at for about three seconds at a time. Pictures just make it harder to read the text.

My desktop's background is full of pain and misfortune. It's very dark and troubled, and now it's something of an anti-hero.

You use a screen-dump of a fanfiction as your background?

Anyway, I got Wonder Woman.

Be warned it's a 4k wallpaper.

I got a bunch of the XCOM 2 loading screen propaganda images cycling randomly for my background.

The Hyper Light Drifter wallpaper I got from Steam since I liked dark background.

Yes I haven't played that game in years now, I'm just lazy at changing my wallpaper (I have specific requirement).

because I'm on windows 10, I have it cycle every 30 mins. Currently:

Ironman
Widowmaker arts (love the chracter, which is odd as I played and didn't like the game, but LOVE the femme fatale. Just wish they'd use overwatch characters in an RPG)
Ghostbusters 1980's artwork (mainly logo interpretations)
Mass effect Female Shepherd.
Starcraft 2 (Jim, Hyperion, Nova, Sarah-ghost)
Enterprise E artworks.

I add and remove what I fancy now and again. :)

About 18 wallpapers, changes every half an hour. Mostly from games.

I use the wallpaper engine, and I've been having a lot of fun going through the Steam workshop (though it is mostly anime girls).

Currently, I am using one that basically looks like this:

So it's a moving gif then? Let's hope the image doesn't, ahem, "freeze."

One of Windows 10's default wallpapers.

I used to have it set to a color blue that looks like the water in the above picture, but then I wanted something to "break the background" so I picked this image.

Default blue one with some lighter blue lines curving across it.

As an aside, I totally do not advocate taking a screenshot of someone's desktop and changing their desktop background to confuse them. Or a picture of a broken screen.

my area was enduring a heatwave, so i changed my wallpaper to this to supplement my mind over matter.
i ended up growing pretty attached to it in the end, so i just didn't bother changing it.

Thank you, thread, for reminding me to change up my background. Now it's art based on Firewatch.

I do the same thing. Nothing warms me up on a January morning like seeing a roaring fire and feeling the fan exhaust with my fingers.
