Renamon's a kitsune, a fox spirit in Japanese lore. From my own understanding, foxes are often subjects of distasteful material with furries. Worse when it applies to so many other characters of the show. But enough about that depressing subject...9_6 said:
Having seen a number of the German episodes of the series, and enjoyed them immensely, I can honestly say the Germans did not do that to avoid the female stereotyping of Renamon.
While they copied the English script nearly to a fault, if you watch the Japanese dub of Adventure, the Yokomon, who were %100 female in English, had some male voices in the original version.
That's why: Because it's written in Digimon lore that Digimon are not "...divided by gender." Funnily enough, that was from Renamon in the English version.
