I got the Trogdor theme on my phone, if that counts.

I just have the Dr. Mario theme for calls and the coin noise from Super Mario for messages for my phone.
i got the Zelda "item get" from Ocarina of Time for messages, before it was R2D2 accidently plugging in into an electricity socket. my ringtone for calls always is some cool piece of music. Mostly Misfits and sorts

I've been switching my ringtone back and forth from the Doctor Who Theme and the Zero Punctuation theme.
As with many people my text sound is the Item Catch sound from Ocarina of Time.
My ringtone is one I haven't heard before though:
It's awesomely urgent. Sadly I have my phone on vibrate most of the time, and I don't actually get that many calls.

Half of my ringtones are from the Sonic Generations soundtrack. Many people that have heard my ringtones are completely unaware and when they are told that its from a Sonic game, they are completely flabbergasted.
My primary ringtone is the intro of Theme of the Specter's Flute from the Professor Layton games, so people don't call me out on that one.
Other than that, I have:

I used to have that little tune that plays inbetween commercials in Azumanga Daioh (anime), but that was on my old phone, and I can't find it for my new one.
But I think this one does just as well.
Also, about your comment with "embarrassing" tones. I don't think any ringtones are embarrassing, but it's annoying if you have one that people will recognize, and everyone will comment on it.
