I'm fairly sure everyone who works out regularly listens to music as they do...it helps keep us going, keep us energized, set the mood for our routines. As a runner, I tend to have separate sets of music for the fairly limited heavy lifting that I do versus the very extensive stretching, light resistance training, and of course running that I also engage in. Heavy lifting tends to be straight thrash and death metal, nothing too creative, while the running and other ways of keeping myself lean and limber can have anything from punk to post-hardcore to hip-hop to techno and trance to classical to even the occasional hints of country (the original version of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is GREAT to run to).
So what are your workout tunes? Is it limited by genre? Is it held together by a universal sound ("epic music" or "uplifting music", say)? Or is it just whatever happens to show up on your mp3 player of choice?
