It's the annual Amazon Holiday - Prime Day. Anyone else observing it by spending money they really, really shouldn't?

So far, I've picked up an Kindle Paperwhite for 109 bucks (30 dollars off) and am considering finally taking the mobile plunge and getting a Red Nintendo 3DS for 175 (25 bucks off).

Huh, I didn't know Kindles were Android powered these days. Actually, looking at the description, it doesnt seem to be much more than a tablet that happens to specialize in reading digital books.

Huh, I didn't know Kindles were Android powered these days. Actually, looking at the description, it doesnt seem to be much more than a tablet that happens to specialize in reading digital books.

The Fires have always been android based, just heavily, heavily, HEAVILY modified. The current ones are also 'obsolete,' running Lollipop and a variety of old hardware. They're also walled in, though there's a simple work around to get the Google Play Store on them.

Normally, I wouldn't entertain the notion of buying one, but for what my mother needs, it's perfect, particularly at the price point. She's got a Surface for anything the Fire wont do, or will do poorly.

As for it' capabilities, like most Amazon products, it exists primarily to access Amazon content. That includes Prime books, Prime movies, and Prime music. Some people think it's a bit... scummy, but I don't mind.

I've got Rick and Morty season 1 in my cart. Thinking about Band of Brothers, but wondering if it's really that good. The battle I watched looked cheap.

Band of Brother is a pretty damn fine mini-series I think. That said, I think The Pacific is better, thought that seems to be an unpopular opinion.

I don't suppose you remember which battle you saw? Probably asking way too much.
