When did Call of Duty become an insult to gamers?

Call of duty is the justin beiber of gaming right now, gamers are gonna hate and talk shit about it simply for existing, and being more popular then thing they actually like. CoD players are like screaming 14 y/o girl who don't know what real gaming is to them.
This is the best answer I've seen in a while.

TBH, I loved COD before they started spewing barf from MW2 and onwards. I don't like the newest games, but I'm not also making low statements as "go back to COD" or something like that. It's just stupid and you only make yourself look even more retarded than the person you're trying to "insult".

Until they make a decent COD again, without the crappy multiplayer and forgettable campaign, I may buy them, until then, I just say screw COD, nothing more, nothing less.

I got 250+ plus hours of use out of Modern Warfare 2, but then I discovered Battlefield Bad Company 2 and got 250+ hours of enjoyment out of that brilliant game. Most people who play the Call of Duty franchise seem to be either angry pubescent children or ignorant benefit claimants (particularly disturbing when you can hear them neglecting their children in the background). With small repetitive maps and indestructible terrain Modern Warfare gets very boring. Tried Black Ops for an hour or two and returned it. 'Nuff said. Roll on BF3 and the Frostbite 2.0 engine!

Same thing happened to Halo and Madden. COD is currently the biggest target for all those "real" gamers who want to criticize the masses, that's all.

(I only play COD to play with friends, I stopped playing Madden 3 years ago, and the Halo/COD franchise hasn't impress me, so I'm just as cliche as the "real" gamers I guess)

Probably associating a person with their fanbase, which consists highly of 10 year olds. Based on someone's behavior, it may be much like a 10 year old, so you use that insult.

Hell, I barely use the insult, but I suppose it became like this when all the youngsters started buying the game and it became noticeable.

I actually don't understand it. Everything Activision/Treyarch/IW does seems to be crucified when this site hears about it. People on this site have the unique ability of becoming illiterate when they are about to read 'Free' in the CoD Elite article.

I actually liked CoD, CoD UO, CoD 2, CoD 3, CoD 4, CoD 5 and CoD: MW2. BO was okay, but the storyline lacked a good story as opposed to 'AMERICA PWNS ALL!'. I don't see much bad with the MP in MW2 or BO, I never encountered the Noob-Tube Brigade, or the '******-Calling' Company. If I see someone with Models, I give them a lesson from Franchi. If someone is running around with the M203 then I show them how much better 5.56 is than 40. There are very few weapons in CoD which can run a monopoly on the map as the best weapons are sometimes unlocked really early (see SPAS 12, M200 (Intervention), PP2000).

Anyway, I'm a relatively hardcore gamer, I'm 15, I'm considerate, I'm a team player and I'm a tactician.

Nah, we used to do that with any shooter back in the day... because in the end FPS isn't exactly a thinking man's genre... and CoD is one of the most noob friendly too...

in my opinion i think that call of duty is the same old thing updated with new guns and new looks and new game types that's all it really is i think its trying to copy the unreal tornoment seirys and will eventually be like a old car and run out of gas and no one will really want it any more becuase of the fact that all tryarc and infinity ward really want from you is your piece of the pie(MONEY)
and eventually a few years from now ill be saying the same thing about another game but call of duty use to be fun now with waw and black ops and mw2-3 its completly unbalanced for a soposivly REALALISTIC SHOOTER when i fire a lmg at a sniper he should be dead when i get a hit maker and i should not be killed from a shot to the foot

but THEY MAKE A NEW CALL OF DUTY EVERY YEAR and its allways around the same time a better game comes out like this year 2011 battle field 3 and halo 1 remake come out and mw2 is ganna take half of the atention becuase of it coming out all the time and on black ops there ZOMBIES SUCK go play L4D for zombies and for a pvp game i play counter srtike and TF2 and battle field bad co 2 ect... but not cod

the day that actavision reads this they might finally decide to make a diff game already becuase after cod4 there was the potential for a great game but instead they ruined it and continued cod seiries but i think eventually people will reallize that games like trenched and chrome hounds also have great potential o wait nvm people already do becuasee xbox decided to put it in headlines trenched now available and people like me bught it and i thought it was a fun game and i still play it today 6/26/11 and i hope some camper from cod reads this

As a big fan of CoD....I know firsthand why. Most people who play CoD regularly are terrible horrible people. Quickscopers, hackers, modders, rude kids, noob tubers, jerks, pricks, trolls, are all on there and quite common.

I think people hate Call of Duty because it's popular, and because it keeps gaining more popularity even though it's the same game every year. The reason the devs aren't changing the game much is because this is a formula that works for them, and if they change something in the core gameplay then that makes the players complain about it. Look at WoW, which has the same basic quests throughout the whole game, but this works for them, so they keep it that way. Pokemon is another case, a franchise "...that hasn't budged in 15 fucking years," is still going strong but oddly not many people seem to notice that the games in the main series are the same (catch Pokemon, get gym badges, beat the Elite Four, do other stuff). So people hate games that have done something original and stuck with it because it made them great. I don't get this world.

i can see why people do this, as COD is a bit of a copy and paste job, but really, although it has some massive flaws, its its just a nice bit of fun to play with friends that doesnt require a great deal of thought, and it is good to have that sort of thing sometimes.

I wish I liked Call of Duty. All of my friends play it online, but I just don't like it. I have tried though I really have. I just don't find the game fun.

Seriosuly? I would say when every publisher and his mother wanted to clone it to make money off ot it thus leading to an endless string of modern FPS games with the same plot, same heroes, same locales, AND SAM MECHANICS!
You know what FPS's where called before the acronym became popular? Doom-clones...

And Delta Force was one of teh first games that had CoD's type of gameplay as i recall... actually i'm pretty sure the Delta Force that came out a few months before the first CoD had a lot of gameplay elements that are still in CoD right now...

(by the way, MW2's mechanics heavily improved and advanced MW1's)
Care to tel us how?
tel, huh?

I can tell you how MW2 improved on MW1 if you IMPROVE your grammar.

When a 16 year old tells you to improve your grammar you have some serious work to do.
Really? You're gonna jump down his throat for missing a letter?
