It's interesting to think back on just how much my taste in music has both changed, and hasn't changed. I still have those good old bands and groups I listen to years long after I first heard them, and there are still so many new ones I find every day.
But I didn't truly understand what kind of music I liked and wanted to listen to until I was about 13. Yeah, I guess some people would say I started kind of late. Until then music was just kind of noise to me. I didn't really care for the latest bands or popular singers. I just listened to whatever my father put on (typically metal and rock, which is evidently what shaped my music tastes early on).
The first band I fell into was Disturbed. I couldn't get enough of how "hardcore" it made me feel to listen to it. It's still one of my favorite bands to this day. I had posters, CD's, t-shirts, anything I could to show how much they were to me. I was about 13 at the time. Ten Thousands Fists was the first CD I ever bought myself.
When did you first become interested in music? What was the first group/band that sparked that interest? Did your parents influence your tastes, or did you develop it on your own?
