Trying to get "Diamond in the Rough" on Guitar Hero Van Halen made me want to snap my controller. For those who don't know, you have to get 5 stars on every Van Halen song on the disk. On the microphone. On EXPERT! And its damn hard, as the guitar hero engine is MUCH stricter than the rock band one. I mean, I am a pretty good vocalist, as I can 5-star many hard rock band songs with no problem. Painkiller, Panic Attack, Long Time, even Beast and the Harlot and through the fire and flames, but on guitar hero I'm lucky if I get 3 stars on most expert songs. Finally got it though, after trying off and on for over ten months I managed to abuse the freeform sections enough to get 5 stars on the remaining songs. Haven't touched the disk since though.
Oh, and then there was Everquest. That game was responsible for so many emotional outbursts when I was younger as every time you died, you lost experience. This could mean that you would lose hours or days of work for a small mistake. I suppose that was left over from the original design, which was conceived as pay-per-hour rather than pay-per month. But it was still a dick move in my opinion.
