It is not very strange when you see Big names on Internet insult people for something they don't like. Maybe they insulting people who made a videogame or movie or something similar. Or even they will insult the people who love the thing they hate. Or they will insult hardcore fans of a specific game like Sonic games, etc.

A great example will be [for now] Jim Sterling when he review many games which are obviously no good [sorry].
Jim Sterling is a well-known reviewer I will always respect and with all honesty I like his style.
However at the same time I don't like his reactions when he get so much hate from the people who just insulted. Why? He obviously say many games are sh*t.

Not Jim only, but most of them who are very well-known.
Now of course I am not saying is a good thing which everyone must do to express their feeling for something they love or hate, but don't act surprised when you get the same kind of treatment when they want to object.

What do you think about this whole thing?

Free pass? You said he gets tons of hate for it. That's not really a free pass. And he is kind of being sued for saying a game is shitty.

Comedians are generally expected to, their audiences love it. And although jim Sterling i hardly ever find funny (though he does try, bless him), he is a fairly free-lance personality who is pretty pro-consumer and endearing with his, umm...style. It is a light-hearted affair i would recommend not worrying about. Now "celebrities" who take themselves very seriously are the one's who cannot get away as easily doing the same, for obvious reasons really. It is why James Blunt became more bearable after he started to gain a self-aware sense of humour.

Jim Sterling hardly gets a free pass. I think he lives in a perpetual boxing match with his internet detractors (Of which there are many).

And beyond that, while Jim Sterling may get a bit snippy with certain populations, he at least has the decency to be specific. In an age where celebrities and a multitude of different kinds of professionals often get on Twitter and carpet boom entire fandoms or groups of people to get at a minority there in, Sterling usually engages in precision strikes, spending a lot of time describing exactly who he's insulting, and narrowing that sub group down as far as possible.

He get Free Pass because even if he costantly insult people, He have a lot of fans to defend him like is their lord and Savior...

For example I strongly believe if I say that he is wrong to believe Metal Gear Survival will be sh*t because FucKonami LOL GUYS!!!! in his site, his fans will attack me like wolf to devour me.

Well...the thing is, I think Jim is right a lot.

Also you have MGS fans to deal with on top of that (which I am one) too.

Plus I mean, not to bring politics into this, but well, politicians say far worse things and seem to get away with it. And some of that is on criminal levels.

Plus don't mock wolves in their own den. I think Justin Beiber is shit, but I wouldn't waste my time saying so on his youtube videos, cause it will be composed of fans.

Not saying I don't get what you're saying, but you would have better luck in less biased areas, and that goes for anything.

If your metric for 'free pass' is that some people will defend them, or get bitchy in there defense, then that means just about everyone alive, dead, or yet unborn has a free pass.

This includes Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and slave traders.

Is this all about that metal gear revival attempt? Dude, there are better things to fight for. Seriously. If you think that the game will be great, then that's OK. But there are so so many reasons why you will have a hard time trying to convince others the same. And it is nothing to do with free passes to internet personalities. Just be OK with yourself and what you like.:) (unless you have a lingering doubt in the back of your mind that won't go away, no matter how much you fight it and the veil is being slowly pulled apart with each new comment, with a glinting hint of the horrors underneath so you push back the veil saying "nooo...I am not ready! Somebody help me close this rift! Don't look!" But nobody comes and then you have no choice but to...?)

No. Not like that. Let me help you: "He gets a free pass in the sense that even when he constantly insults people, he still has a lot of fans that defend him like he is their lord and saviour." English isn't my first language either, but your posts are hardly comprehensible. I mean that seriously. I don't really get what your point is, other than that you find certain minor e-celebs too insulting, and other people disagree with you. What exactly should I discuss here? Do you have some specific examples of how this manifests? Maybe a link to a video or something so I know what is going on?

Also, on the subject of defending Jim Sterling like my lord and saviour. Of course I do that, because he is our actual lord and saviour. Didn't you know?

My issue with the "FuckKonami" thing is that people are making out as a one sided thing like Konami is completely in the wrong and Kojima is completely in the right. This is a quote from a guy I know that somewhat echoes the samethings I have been thinking.

To quote this guy:

"The point is MGS, Kojima and Konami are part of a narrative, and people love narratives.

Konami is the sinister megaglobal corporation and Kojima is the artistic genius fighting against corporate oppression. So no matter what Konami does from this point forward, shelve the series, continue the series, etc. they will always be wrong, and no matter what Kojima does he will be acclaimed as a vindicated genius for it.

Under this narrative people seem incapable to accept that, maybe, Kojima is so far up his own ass he's in danger of choking on it (see MGS2), and is more interested in making movies than games (see MGS4), and is just the kind of pretentious auteur that would feel perfectly entitled delivering a project years late and dozens of millions of dollars overbudget.

Far be it for me to excuse Konami from all the crap that it has pulled, but maybe in this case we don't have a good side vs. a bad side, rather, both sides are varying degrees of shit. But that would require nuance, and the internet is no place for nuance.

In a way I fear for Kojima and Death Stranding. After people put you on a pedestal they love nothing more than to knock you down. We saw it this year with Keiji Inafune and MIghty No. 9, and with Hello Games and No Man's Sky. If people don't cool it with Kojima, Death Stranding is heading the same way, regardless of how good it ends up being."

Pachinko, and turning Metal Gear into a zombie survival shooter kind of REEEEEALLY support that narrative though.

That said, I have had the thought that maybe Kojima is losing it, but I am waiting for his new game before I decide for certain.

And I liked MGS2, but I also got into MGS via the HD collection, so I didn't have that experience of getting trolled by Raiden.

If Konami decides to give me some Mystical Ninja though, I might be swayed back.

No-one has mentioned Kojima here though, nor what they think of him. Are you sure you're not projecting a personal gripe you have with the guy onto this? Konami have many problems other than Kojima that people are aware of. Only simpletons and teenagers/kids of the unlearned types attach to narratives such as you describe. We do not live in hollywood movies.

Well to support the claim that Kojima not only was up his own ass but also overbudgeting because here is the thing:

Not only was making Metal Gear Solid 5, he was using a completely brand new engine, and not only that he was making the next Silent Hill game and that game had the star power of having Gulliermo del Toro and the star of the Walking Dead show (don't know his name at the moment) so those 2 people are not cheap.

And he was making a Zone of the Enders 3 at that time (cancelled before gameplay or even a teaser trailer ever came out, just a model of a completely different looking robot)

But still all these projects at the same time must have been abysmmally overbudget that its no wonder Konami pulled the plug and say fuck it we are only tackling cheaper ways like Pachinko.

And mind you I say this as a guy that adores Metal Gear aswell. But I always hated MGS-2.

When someone say's free pass they mean by the media at large and even the rules.

To use your example if a celebrity where to spit in your face and receive no legal repercussions or media coverage where there would have been lots if they had done it.

They don't get a literal free pass, it's not as if you go thank you may I have another, you still hate them and voice, people on online forums and social media voice it but it won't get coverage and they won't be punished.

Where talking about being given more leeway than the average joe, there is one set of rules for you and one for someone else on social media and in the media depending on what group you belong to, simple fact.

I Just saying an example. It is not only for Metal Gear really. And I am not saying the game will be great. I just want to say to wait and see. That all.

Another good example will be the "I Hate Everything" Guy [don't know his name]. He constantly create Hate videos and insult people just because they like them. Yes, it is his style, I get it, but for god shake almighty he continue insulting people even if he see clearly some people get really hurt with his words by posting videos with their comments.....
Not cool man, not cool.

And Konami didn't get to profit on a lot of that. Silent Hills would most likely have made them tons of money. Cant say on Zone of the Enders, since I think that's a more niche series.

I am of the mind that Art > Money, so that's not really gonna get me to turn on Kojima. Not like Kojima has gone Tim Schafer yet (and he shouldn't have been the money handler anyways).

Konami could have just been like "Finish this first, then work on the next project", doesn't mean Konami had to flip the whole table.

These internet "celebrities" you're talking about don't get a free pass. They mostly live in a constant state of backlash from outraged viewers.

Now if you're talking about actual celebrities, well, you kind of answered your own question. Because they're famous. That's why the Kanyes and Lohans of the world can get into twitter wars, spew bile and hatred towards one another and be free from consequence. They're held to a different standard because of their station in life. I don't like it, but such is life.

Also, I'm not trying to be a bully here, but I have a hard time understanding you through all the grammatical errors and bizarre sentence structure. I'm sure I'll get labelled a grammar Nazi regardless.

But that wouldn't happen if I were famous.

The point is that its all speculation, the only ones that do know is the men at Konami and Kojima himself.

And I am of the opinion that it was a very complicated situation that was going on where both parties are guilty of their own accords than just "Konami is evil, he fucked over Kojima the Great, I want my Silent Hills, #FuckKonami!!!"

Jim Sterling was a bad example to use, because I don't think he does get a free pass. I think he just is really good at taking the hits and stay standing.

Plus if I criticize what Jim has, well, I don't think it will be debated what I said across the internet like Jim would be.
