So i've called -Generic Computer Manufacturer-* today because my laptop told me there was a hard-disk error and that I should contact tech support. I've spent 45 minutes with them.
*To avoid promotion of a brand, or making it brand specific
I have now finished my call with a new hard-drive, motherboard, screen and case being installed by an engineer next Tuesday, and it was incredibly uncomfortable. Am I the only one who feels like saying 'well yeah it's a problem, but really it's OK! I can deal with not having that light!' to these people? I just get the impression that i'm somehow stealing from them when they go above and beyond what is required.
I've never really had much contact with anybody who makes my phone/pc/laptop etc., but when I have they've never really done so much, is this a new thing for companies or a one-off, has anybody else recently had weirdly good dealings with their computer company?
(Just to clarify, the reason i'm getting a new screen/cover is because there is a dodgy light on my left hinge and they don't have the LED for it, so they're replacing that half of the laptop.)
