Okay, I've just managed to finally get around to watching Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, which is something I've been meaning to do ever since I finished Death Note (but was sidetracked by nostalgia re-watching the original Pokemon series...). And just two episodes in, I'm loving it, but finding it to be one of the creepiest and most disturbing shows I've seen in a long time. To be fair, I do enjoy that sort of thing though (my first anime was Elfen Lied after all...). Seeing the main characters acting all cute and innocent in general just makes it that much more disturbing when they later do something out of character or really creepy within the story (Rena's confrontation with Keiichi? And when she's standing outside his bedroom door later on?).

Anyway, it got me thinking. Obviously many of you won't have seen this particular anime, but nevertheless, I'm interested to know. What TV shows and media have creeped you out recently? Oh, and I don't want to hear mention of Creepypasta or The Slender Man or anything like that here, because those are too obvious. I want to know what you've seen recently that you loved that was also great at making you think "what the fuck have I just watched?". Something like the film Mulholland Drive. Or The Blair Witch Project. Or a Lady Gaga music video.

TL;DR: What creepy things have you seen and enjoyed recently, aside from internet memes and the like?

Oh yes. Arc 1 of Higurashi had me paranoid for at least 24 hours. And I still get jumpy about it sometimes.

Mononoke and Ayakashi (japanese classic horror) really get me too. Good, artsy stuff.

Only 2 episodes? Haha, it gets so much worse. And by worse, I mean better. Higurachi is lovely.

Recently, I've been creeped out by... Not really sure what. I guess I'll pick the recent random pictures from the Rebuild 2.0 art book on what some of the Angels could've looked like. Holy hell, Gainax puts Lovecraftian horrors to shame.

Exactly. You think it gets bad, wait till episode five.
Then the true mind fuck begins.
And it still gets worse from there.

I loved watching that one, though near the end it loses alot of the horror and is mostly just mystery and suspense.

The first 4 episodes gave it an awesome impression though.

Ah Higurashi, best storyline evar!

As for creepy stuff well, after Higurashi and Umineko (Witch (did u c what I did thar?) is its sequal after Kai and Rei) nothing really creeps me out anymore. Though I found this one manga that I was reading from 3 til 5 in the morning that completely wreacked my shit. I think it was called Homunculus, you haven't seen anything until you've seen *that* sand girl *shudders*

The 18th episode of Mai-Otome,seeing how bloodthirsty this little kid gets slightly disturbed me.

Also Daisoujou in SMT:Noctune, the way he kept popping up freaked me out, though wiping the floor with his ass sort of dissipated the fear.

higurashi is awesome.

I cant really think of anything that has truly got me creeped out recently, but when I was 12-ish I watched Final Destination 2 and was seriously terrified any time we were behind a semi on the interstate, at the dentist, on an elevator, and airbags

EDIT: almost forgot fire escapes...

I have a question now, and figured I may as well ask here instead of posting a new thread for it. Does anyone know anything about the release schedule for the dubs of Higurashi Kai? I've just finished watching the first season, but apparently there aren't any dubbed versions of the second season (Kai) because they haven't been done yet by the company that does them. I can't find any info on when the dubs will be done, so does anyone else have an idea at all?

And don't say that I should just watch subbed versions anyway, because I'll ignore you. I always prefer dubs, if I wanted to read subtitles I'd just go out and read the manga instead... :p

(PS. Sorry for the bold text, but I do want to make the question stand out a bit, being buried in among other posts and all...)
