I just want to urge people to watch this film. Most of us who grew up during the 80's and the cold war, I would imagine have already seen this film and know how real this threat was during those times. I just want the younger generation to see this film, not only as an amazing film but as a piece of history that could have been.
I think one of the saddest films (well, animations) I've ever seen.

Agreed, it is an amazing film, and very sad. The way the old couple have faith in the useless advice we were fed in the eighties about how to survive a nuclear attack, and what happens as time goes on, is truly harrowing. I remember nuclear drills at school, teaching us to get under our desks and all that; it's great that although today there are still fears of terrorist nuclear strikes, or attacks from rogue states, there seems little or no likelihood in the near future of the Mutually Assured Destruction that we came so close to on more than one occasion.

If you didn't experience the cold war, or even if you did, and you haven't seen this film, then you should definitely see it.
