Don't you mean 'new lows?' Seriously, it's shit like this that makes me wish I could punch people through the Internet.

I dislike people who do this, but there sadly isn't much one can do, except report them to the proper authorities; I.E. Mods. And just ignore them.. The ones I dislike the most are the ones who go after people who are already depressed, or whatnot, and just try and make them kill themselves..

That's the internet for you.

regular person + anonymity + audience = complete arsehole

When someone dies, I'm of the opinion that you should just be respectful, and any grievances you had should just be left to yourself. Although I do tend to waver a bit on this when a person did a large amount of questionable things during his life. For example, when Bush dies, I would not have a problem with someone bringing up the Iraq war horribleness, provided they did it in a polite format, not "OMG BUSH WAZ A DIK IRAQ SUKKED BALLS".

But edd? He made fucking flash animations. So yeah, this guy is an arsehole.

Captcha: too late. Unfortunately yes, yes it is.

There's a difference between being dumb and trolling. They're being dumb and offensive. A troll tries to be believable, these guys aren't,

Take comfort in knowing that the wretched little tossers would never ever dare say something like that to your face.

Of course, they'd pass it off to their self-diagnosed arseburgers, as opposed to not wanting to risk being punched.

It is stupid, sick, unacceptable, but at the bottom line insignificant. It makes no difference really if some immature kid insults a dead person, or alive person for that matter. It won't change anything. It won't make me change my mind about someone. None is taking these comments seriously. It's just sad for those who say them.

When you get popular, you earn fans and detractors in equal measure. It's a concept that's way older than the Internet, and it's really not that tragic or worth getting upset about.

Welcome to the internet where people act like asshats because they know that there will be no repercussions.

Back in my day, if you acted like a jerk you ran the risk of getting beaten up because the person you were being a jerk to was probably within earshot.
Well any civilised person would see that as overkill. If oyur reaction is to beat someone up for saying something, no matter how insensitive or horrible, then you're worse than they are because youve gone past what they did tenfold.

The guy's dead, I don't see how or why he should care. And I especially don't give a crap about people getting offended on other people's behalf.
Would you be happy to let someone dance on a deceased relatives grave? Its insulting to the memory to come to a memorial of someone to criticise them.

People here are just as bad, if not worse. I remember a thread about 9/11 where a person said he/she laughed while watching American's jump from those burning buildings. A bunch of people said similar things, mostly English and Canadian teens I gathered. Oddly, none of them were banned. Anyway, my point is on the internet everyone is a dick and there is no limit to there dickishness.

As long as they don't screw with the dirt and flowers over there, have at it. It's not insulting to the memory, it's insulting to you, and I don't understand why you care.
This is either trolling in itself or you are completely devoid of care for anyone but yourself. You must care for tohers and so you would hate to seem them insulted after death, especially at their memorial, as much as in life. You take offense for them as a friend/relative. If yuo dont understand that basic part of humanity how can you hope to have anyone feel anything for you?

People are cunts who want attention.
In terms of Edd, he made some great stuff and got popular. Of course people "break the norm" to be edgy. Still, it is certainly a shame about Edd. I was watching his stuff since I was like, 12.
Same...one of my mates who also watches/watched his stuff also has leukemia and she aint exactly in a good way... But this isn't even trolling, this is just a bunch of 12 year olds trying to be "ub3r l33t" and "'Ard"

And it makes me want to grab a hammer, shout FUR TEH EMPRAH and hit something. Righteous rage man away!

Yeah I think shit like that is unacceptable. Regular trolling is inevitable but something like this is disgusting and websites should at least try to ban people who do this. As impossible as it sounds I think the internet would be a much better place if at least most if not all of the people who are this inconsiderate and douchey were gone.
LIFE would be better if these sort of people were gone.

What was that line from "Scrubs" again? "People are bastard coated bastards with bastard filling!" Hm...something like that, you get the idea. People are twats and the only thing that's more annoying than a twat is an anonymous twat, because then the fact that they are all cowards irl doesn't matter.

and how screwed up is that. "its part of the internet if you dont want to get trolled dont use the internet" i do have to ask. why? why should people have to put up with it? people get mugged and harrassed on the street but i dont see anyone claiming its a part of walking down the street.

sooner this vile crap is stamped out the better. people dont deserve the right to be anonymous on the net.
you can just make sure you don,t get mugged in the first place and this applicable to the internet first of don,t fall for the trolling in the first place second the ignore button if trolls don,t get the attention they want they stop or move to a new target.

So long as you're out of punching distance you can say what you like. That's the best thing about the internet and also the most frustrating thing. People are entitled to their opinions or trolling comments, the fact that a remark meant to be hurtful made you feel this angry is only testimony to how successful said person trolling was.

Unfortunately, you just have to learn to roll with the punches and smile at the fools - in 'real life' and especially on the internet.

I have to wonder what parts of the internet you regularly inhabit for trolling to be colored as "generally harmless if not annoying as hell" as opposed to "just offensive, dickish behavior and I personally think people who do this shit should be banned from whatever websites they're doing it on." When you have something open to the public, there will always be dicks. Combine that with anonymity, freedom from immediate repercussion, easy access, and less stringently enforced social graces, and that number will be upped to the nth degree. The only advice I can give you is to treat it like white noise and to avoid baiting them.

Also, after wading through those youtube comments you mentioned, I can say that I find them marginally more distasteful than the crop of "tribute" videos springing up in the animator's wake made by people not even remotely connected to him in what I can only describe as a shameless grab for sympathy internet-points. Nothing quite like capitalizing off of a man's death for a free ego boosts, is there? (See the Steve Jobs tributes and 60% of DeviantArt journal entries)

Captcha: "face the music". Oddly fitting.

OT: I assume you're talking about Youtube comments. Well, those comments are often like this.
It's best just to ignore them.

And on the subject of trolling . . .

Guess who just got banned recently
it says hes online right now. but if he is banned, i will throw a party that includes swimming in copies of mass effect 1, 2, and 3, and people that look like the characters. i call garrus!
