I'll admit, I'm a fan, but I didn't know that he died...in fact I didn't even know he had cancer until about a month ago.
I'm sad that he's gone, but it's the same sadness I give to the death of someone like Mitch Hedburg or Richard Jeni. I didn't know them personally, they weren't a close friend or family.
I can give the whole "my heart goes out to his friends and family" speech, but I know there's not much I can do, as I'm not a part of it. I was a dedicated viewer, and I'll confess a curiosity about where the series is going from here.
Basically some people here are saying stuff like "Why should we care that he's dead?" and while I may sort of agree that since his death may not have impacted you on a personal level, and there might not be a good reason to type positively about it, there's also no good reason to be a dick about it, either.
When dealing with someone's death, it just sort of helps to remember the whole "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" rule.
You don't have to be all like "Oh, what a terrible loss this is. I'm in a glass case of emotions." but you're not helping anyone by going "Who cares? He's dead."
Keep that **** to yourself. And I'm not saying that to impede upon the whole free speech thing. It's not a matter of free speech. It's a matter of not being an asshole.
