It used to be mostly every game had some form of unlockable, either it be a harder difficulty, or new costume or some other thing.

These things seem to have vanished from our current generation of consoles/games. Most games come with all the difficulties unlocked, and just have an arbitrary points reward for completing it, rather than an in-game prize, and taking away a bit of replay value. And most costumes or other such unlockable have been turned into DLC or pre-order content.

Do you wish we had the out style of unlockables back? or, If you can, point out some games this generation that do unlockables right.

God of War: Collections[footnote]Technically, they're two last-gen games on a Bluray disc. But technicalities be damned, it was re-released this gen, that mother fucker counts.[/footnote]/God of War III.

They have unlockable difficulties, costumes, concept art, videos, and you can play as..

Yes, that is Kratos. Yes, he is in a fish suit. Any questions? No? Good.

Yes. I miss unlockable stuff so much. About as much as I miss cheat-codes actually.

And not those "beat the game to unlock" cheat codes, I'm talking about the "press buttons to turn into god" cheat codes...

Yes, it's a shame. I miss the good old days when you could unlock new skins, characters and game modes. Especially the characters. I remember when I beat Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II for the first time, and noticed that I had unlocked a new character. My jaw pretty much hit the floor out of surprise that it was Drizzt.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3

did it right.

Soul Calibur IV
did it right, with the exception of adding the DLC to unlock things later.

Dragon Ball Z Infinite World
failed.
Less than 8 hours, it was unlocked.

I really can't think of any other game (or even any BESIDES fighting games) that really have unlockables.

There's my two bits.
