I'm from Lethbridge, AB, Canada. And yeah I occasionally make geeky references, but not often. I also have a Kirby shirt and 2 Mario shirts. ...and 3 Pikachu shirts, but I never wear those. I love Pikachu, but I'm too self-conscious to wear those shirts in public.

Well... I'm from Lithuania. I don't really try to seek out other people with similar interests. To be honest, i don't try to seek out other people at all.
I'm perfectly content with just sitting by myself, away from the rest. I don't really wear any 'geeky' clothing, like internet-meme t-shirts or whatever. I prefer to dress myself with a little more dignity, mostly flannel shirts, Turtlenecks, black long coats and black fedoras (or Flatcaps, they're sort of like the Newsboy hats, which are mostly worn by old people, at least here in Lithuania. I still like them). The geekiest thing about my real life persona would probably be my habit of saying 'WTF' or 'FFS'. I'm trying to kick this habit though, been saying this nonsense much less than i used to.

Hey, I've been there. My grandmother lives in Ballyheigue. Tralee is the place with the Aquadome, right?

As for myself, I live in Aberystwyth, Wales. Small town of about 15,000 - 20,000 peoplee, with university students making up at least half the population.

As for geeky attire, not especially. I do seek those with similar interests out, but as I'm doing a Computer Science degree, it isn't difficult.

Yeah, unfortunately, it's not the worst one ever though!
Whaddaya mean "unfortunately"? Irish accents are awesome.

Well, okay, they're not quite as good as Welsh accents. But they're at least as good as French ones.

Holy shit, another Tasmanian!

Whereabouts man? (Y'know, just out of curiosity, not because you're within hunting distance.)

I'm in Hobart. South Hobart to be precise.

Define "Irish Accent" There are several, which do you refer to? Cork? Donegal? Dublin? There are more than one.
What, you think I can tell the difference? I don't even know what a Donegal is, and I always thought a Cork was that thing you try to aim at your mother-in-law's eyeball when opening a bottle.

Suffice to say, I've never heard an Irish accent that I didn't like.

Up on the northwest coast, Burnie.

Seeing so many different nationalities represented just in this thread it's really kinda amazing to see someone so close by.

I'm from Key Largo, Florida. I live in Central Florida right now. Neither place did I look for folk like me, we just sort of gravitated together. Of course I'm not the average geeky guy since I was very athletic in my youth and still maintain a level of athleticism. Put like this, I love american football and hockey, but I also can discuss Star Wars universe politics... So yeah I'm pretty geeky.
Anyway I always end up finding people I can get along with in most any crowd.

That's right, probably the best indoor swimming area in Ireland (best place for birthday parties as kids)

I think we all know that he means:

Sounds like a "sober" Irishman to me. :) Ok bad joke, there are no sober irishmen. Ok bad stereotype... :) I mean it in good spirits (see what I did there?).
I'll stop, the puns are getting to me.
Seriously though I've not heard an Irishman speak so slowly, I almost understood him completely without having to rewind and slowmo the words.

So...Errr...Yeah. I'm from 'Murrica. Vermont, specifically[footnote]And I don't have an appropriate accent; if anything, I overpronounce my 'R's."[/footnote]. I don't really seek out geeks, they just seem to seek me out.

Although, to be frank, I just seem to be someone everyone wants to talk to, and maybe only the geeks survive my attempts to sabotage conversations by screwing with people. Most people, it's all "whoosh!"

In my defense, most people are boring.

Unfortunately basically everyone who hangs around the street in that video sounds like that.
I believe it. We have thousands of people 'round here I don't understand because their dialect is too thick.

They'd probably just apologize to you anyway.
That's just a front. Canadians are ruthless.

Finland reporting in.
Lived first 20 years of my life in a small town where everyone knew everyone so everyone knew I listened to heavy metal and played video games.
Now I study in Turku, apparently me wearing heavy metal clothes in a big city is a weird thing o_O
Everyone else wears "normal" clothing while a Iron Maiden t-shirt gives me looks like never before...

I wouldn't watch that video I just posted then... Might be a touch disheartening.
Gah!

Why?! Why would you do that?

Colour Scientist, if you sound like that guy I'm going to be heartbroken. Y'hear me? Heartbroken!

Just set up a camera outside the Londis on O'Connell street up by Abbey Street. Every time I go in there it's being robbed which means either I am hugely unlucky and always happen to walk in just as a robbery happens or it is just constantly being robbed. Hell that dude would probably turn up in the video running out with a baguette and a carton of milk.
I'd go for the latter option.
We should just put a fence around Talbot Street. :D

Haha, nah, I live in Dublin but I'm from a different part of the country.

I'm also not a junkie.

Interesting. Here in America, the cataclysmically stoned/drunk/strung-out usually speak what I call speed-english. Basically something you need a former addict to decipher. Interesting how it seems to be backwards across the pond. Even our heroin addicts are a little speedy.

I'm from Jersey City, New Jersey. I didn't meet too many nerds there. Sure everyone loved video games but they mostly played shooters and sports games. Anime wasn't big, nor were more obscure games. I didn't drop any references or quotes from anything into conversation though since I mostly communicated via insults, swear words and crude jokes.

Now I live in a town in Southern NJ (I won't say where because I hate this place with ever fiber of my being and don't even like typing the name) and there are nerds everywhere. Sadly they mostly conform to the "Basement dwelling, no social skill, neck beard, loser" stereotype D:
But I've found a few nerds that were able to hold a conversation without digressing into how much they want to bang game/anime character X and I've become good friends with them. I also now drop a reference or quote sometimes as bait to see if anyone picks it up and I also wear a Skyrim pendent and an Escapist t-shirt sometimes.

I'm still nerdier than my friends though, but I am introducing them to new things and they're eager to take them up :D

I also met this one girl down here that was a hardcore gamer and anime/manga lover but we don't hang out for some reason.
I should change that :D

That depends on location. New Jersey folk have a reputation for speaking very quickly compared to the rest of the country. Our addicts tend on speaking slower than the average here but then again we just speak quickly naturally.
