Where did all the Ninjas go?

As everyone no doubt knows, there is a debate regarding Pirates & Ninjas and which one of the two would prevail in an epic battle to the death. Some pick Pirates, some Ninjas, though I'm sure we all agree both are epic in their own right. Because of this, my friend and I went off on a quest to find Multiplayer PC pirates & ninja games. We found quite a few Pirate games e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean online, Pirates of the burning sea, Age of Booty and if I stretch it reallllly far... Eve online... I like to think Space Pirates count too.

My problem is that when I came to look for Ninja games, I couldn't find a single Multiplayer Ninja game for the PC. I heard there was a Tenchu game for the PC that was multiplayer but it's almost too rare to find. Of course when I mentioned that I couldn't find one my friend instantly went off and tried to make a Flash version but that might take a while. In my opinion it would be brilliant to have a game where you used Co-op to go on assassinate missions or two teams with a leader in each and the objective is to kill the enemy leader. You could have lots of game modes including plain out deathmatch. The only game I can think is anywhere close to this is probably Gunz: The Duel... Although I wouldn't call them Ninjas... more 'sword&gun wielding crack cocaine addicts online', which coincidently is probably going to be the name of the next design doc I can be arsed to write.

I am an all out PC gamer, but if we had some kind of game like this it might keep PC gaming a little more Fresh. It seems lately everything is just different versions of FPS & MMO with slightly tweaked story-lines, graphics and gameplay. Don't get me wrong I enjoy FPS and MMO as much as the next guy, I'd enjoy something new though.

Anyway thanks for anyone who can help me with this issue. I'm not quite sure if I've worded this post right at all but I'll blame that on the lack of sleep. Thanks again,

-Andy

PS. I don't know if I've missed any cool Ninja games out there or any other nice games I may have missed. If anyone can think of any please let me know, I'd like to give them a try :)

Ninja games don't have a decent base to stand on, pirates offer a wide range of foundation, whereas it's hard to know where to start in a Ninja RPG.

Piece of advice: ninjas are everywhere. That guy who sniped you from wherever the fuck? Yeah. He was a ninja.

That guy who just jumped off a spot you're sure you can't get to? You'd better bet your ass he's a ninja.

Making your own ninjaness in games is much more fun than playing games about ninjas.

That's just the term Ninja in a game. I'm talking about games that actually get you immersed in the game due to its story and gameplay. Having a 15 year old find a bug on a wall letting them get to an area where they shouldn't be able to get to isn't what I'm talking about.

I'm assuming that is because ninjas are sneaky and never supposed to be seen so having 2 ninjas in the same spot is pretty pointless. Ninjas are suppose to assassinate the single target while remaining unnoticed. The whole inhuman acrobatics and crazy fighting 6 enemies at once isn't really a ninja just someone who thinks hes a ninja.

However I suppose they could make a good game if they ignored the definition of ninja altogether a ninjas weapons are limited I'm sure you've seen them all by now but they are afraid to add more cause then it wouldn't be a ninja even if it wasn't a ninja in the first place.

Only way I can see a true ninja game working is if the throw the concept of a ninja out and call it a ninja or make an extremely short game based around a real ninja(but the second option is pretty hard to have multiplayer).

I'm still waiting for Ninja Vs Pirates MMO but sadly no word on it yet.

Hey, Global Warming is still happening (or is it? Conspiracy!), which means the numbers of Holy Pirates are still low, according to Pastafarianism.

I suppose I agree with you about having to ignore some key parts regarding Ninjas to make a game that would work. I was just thinking if you crossed something like SWAT with Ninjas. A team of people sneak into a house or whatever and take out the targets silently. Though that would be a fairly short game if you just stuck to the rules of what a Ninja actually is.

Where did all the Ninjas go?

Exactly.

My question is where is the awesome Ninja stealth game? And I do mean AAA ninja game. Why would I want to be Altiar when I can be an actual ninja? Think about it Ubisoft.

Ninja's irl were more of a clan type thing... essentially the anti-samurai.

Anyway, I personally find pirates to be way more interesting. Lately I've read a few awesome books like Captain Blood, Pirate Latitudes, Treasure Island (the original) and all I can say about pirates is they're a disloyal and unruley bunch. But they also have ships and guns so you could do a lot with that.

Ninja's are cool I guess, and it could be fun to play a good ninja game (not just an action game). But I'm not all that "into" ninjas.

You just have to be fast enough to find the Ninja games. They are tricky little bastards.

I don't know if it ever came out on PC, but Kung Fu Chaos is pretty awesome, and two player if I remember correctly. It was an Xbox Exclusive, original Xbox not 360, so there may be a port out there.

And you get to fight wave after wave of ninjas. As a Ninja of course.

I know what you were talking about, but since I had nothing to add game-wise, I thought I'd say something I thought held an equal opportunity for fun, and yes, I'm fifteen. No, I don't use glitches, I just pay attention to the maps I play on. Spots are everywhere, and if you can hear people scream "WHAT THE FUCK?!" I always get a tingly sense of satisfaction.

Well I agree that pirates are pretty damn awesome. Sailing around on a war galleon blowing up other players ships never gets tiring not to mention you can do a lot more with a pirates character development. (If you look at Ninjas as the sort to blindly follow orders to assassinate whoever they're told to like I do)

I'm still here =D

OT: I've been hearing (but I can't say for certain) that some small time developers were making a game based on Ninjas. I hope this to be true because then tits would be awesome.

But they can be the most fun especially in games with Killcams, where they think no-one will find them, granted I'm usually the only person who decides that rather than just avoiding that area and carrying on taking out everyone else to make it my mission to take them out, however many other kills that I'm missing the opportunity to take out. I hate snipers! Not saying that it requires less skill or anything (its beyond my capabilities), but that doesn't mean that I don't take satisfaction in taking them out.
