Whatever, just wash your hands.
ok, so I just updated from xp to windows 7 and I have 2 hard drives on my comp, my os drive and one I use for all my games and steam, when I start up steam it does the install thing again, seems to get the reg all up etc etc for most things but the ones that dont have steam cloud seem to lose the save games, Im wondering if anyone knows exactly what steam is doing.

I was gonna poke around it today but Im currently in customer support limbo after trying to reset my password yesterday

You mean the save games?
It depends on the game, but for most newer games they end up in your my documents folder somewhere.

Save games tend to be scattered with Steam titles and it depends largely on the game in question. They may be in your documents folder or buried somewhere in the Steam folder. If they were in the documents folder and you formatted the drive before installing Win7 then you're probably screwed. Most games designed to run on either Win7 or Vista will save to the documents folder simply because the default settings in either will prevent the game from writing to the program files directory (which is were most games will be installed by default unless downloaded from Steam).
