As for me, I'm about done facepalming at what 90% of game critics have to say as to what they think makes a good game.

I know in the end the best review is the one I make over a game but then again that would mean I would have to rent just about every game that comes out to tell if it'll be good or not, and then again I'm also a PC gamer and renting isn't an option....><

Honestly I'd like to hear a reviewer that seems to know what they're talking about and won't give in to popularity or bias opinions...=/

I don't listen to reviews.

I watch trailers, gameplay, developer diaries, anything that gives me info on the game before it comes out.

Then I decide if I want to buy it.

Game reviews: here and only here.
Anime reviews: here and my otaku friend back home.
Movie reviews: here, IMDB, Ebert, and the movie guy from my hometown newspaper (I don't remember his name).

Reviews are entirely pointless for me. I just read up on gameplay information and overall story then if i like it enough i buy/rent the game.

I watch the first part of a video walkthrough or a "Let's Play" & just decide whether or not it looks fun enough to continue. The only reviews I watch are nostolgic ones.

Usually watch IGN reviews on YouTube along with GameTrailers reviews and I watch X-Play every ounce and a while. I occationaly watch read reviews on this site but not very often. I also have an app on my iPod called "GameCenter" and it gives reviews and user reviews along with video-game news, I think it's really great.

I get my reviews at Gamespot. I don't judge a game on them, I just like to hear what other people have to say. Unless I have mixed feelings and need a straight answer.

I deside wether I want a game or not by following these steps:
1. Download the Demo (if available)
2. Watch/read reviews at Gameinformer, Gamespot, Escapist, Zero punctuation
3. Read responces to said reviews
4. ????
5. Profit
6. ????
7. Debt
you shoudn't be reading this

Anyways, want to say one site I've found that seems to have reviewer dedicated in bringing games to light of their potentials is Gamepro...here's a review of Heavy Rain I found very well written and expressed.

Well usually IGN has reviews of games up the earliest, so them mostly. However, IGN likes anything and everything they come across, so I use them more to get information about the game to come to a conclusion of whether I would like it or not as opposed to judging by what score they give it.

Unlike most people here I often Listen to reviews. I watch Gamespot and most of the time they're pretty much right about the game. And Games are expensive, so I don't wanna spend lots of money on a game that looks good, but then is a piddle of piss.

Though I know Gamespot are currently getting a lot of Backlash over The Dantes Inferno Review.

You like the site that gave Shadow Of the Colossus a 8.7, but GTA IV got a perfect 10?

Most review sites are getting shit over their Dantes Inferno reviews, they more or less complain about how it's a God Of War clone.
Yeah Fair enough, GTA IV was deffo not worth 10. Though to be fair, when you're that much of a rip off of one game, you should be compared to the better game.

]True, but they're are pretty much just saying "God Of War does it better", while it does. Dantes Inferno is a great game. It's a rip off, but it's a good one.
Yeah does well for the first half. But too be fair, It goes down hill really quickly really poorly. And the last area is just derivative challenge rooms ¬¬

Oh man..don't even get me started on GTA4 and all the b.s. praise it got...lol
XP

I have a way of testing reviewers based on the score they gave that game....if a reviewer gave the game anything more than a 7.0 they're full of it...lol

Reviews for major releases are just long form advertisements. Either play a demo or wait until it is cheap if it still looks interesting then but chances are it won't when the hype campaign falls off.

The more interesting question is where to find out which games are worth playing that don't get the over excited reviews.

I don't trust reviewers; usually I watch all trailers, interviews etc. and make my decision then.

I get most of my opinions from here (except Yahtzee, he's more gaming comedian to me now than reviewer) or friends, seeing as one of my friends somehow bought EVERY new release that has come out this year, despite being a Uni student like me.
