Where was I?

Every so often for various reasons we put a game down and elect for a long spell not to pick it up again. Then when one does the realization is "wait, what was I doing? Where do I need to go?" now, naturally more linear titles no worries and modern games often give clues to what progress you've made.

For me the game is Golden Sun: The Lost Age. I loved the Golden Sun games, I beat the first with ridiculously over powered character and was excited to export data into the sequel. I played Lost Age intensely and then through circumstance I lived overseas (Scotland) for a while and left my trusty GBA at home. I forgot about Felix and crew and then saw recently a third Golden Sun on DS is coming out and reminded me I had not beaten the second game. I went back...ran around...leveled up...ran around...and had no clue what I was doing in terms of furthering the story.

What I know. Got around 15 hours in, Level 31 characters, have 4 djinn for each person and seems I'm overpowered in all areas I wonder around (1 turn battles). I have yet to meet Issac and crew though, so not that far yet.

My point, well, is there a game in limbo for you that you revisit in vain to remember what in 2004 is going on?

Also, if anyone can help me out that'd be nice. GameFaqs is good resource once I knew how far along I am, but in open world games hard to have markers of "that is done, that isn't, must need to do x next". I know its an odd request.

Ah Golden sun, probably my favourite games on the GBA.
As for where you are, you might be at the point where you need to travel to the elemental "rocks" to unlock the powers they hold.
Which eventually allows you to pass through the fog surrounding Lemuria.
Air's rock is in the east of Oceania (the second land you go to), Aqua rock is to the south east, I can't remember the name of the Island but it's not hard to find.
Gaia Rock is to the north, on a Japan inspired island, again I can't recall the name.

I can't think of any games that are stuck in "limbo" for me, thoguh I often find it hard to get back into games like Bioshock of Fallout if I've left them for a long time.

This happened to me with Final Fantasy 9, but in reverse.

I forgot where I had to go, couldn't remember so badly that I got bored and left the game for a couple of months, only returning when I was cleaning out the memory card and noticed I still had a save for it.

Turns out I had to go to the Black Mage Village.

That all sounds really familiar. I'm sure you're right...if only I could remember exactly how far along I was. Thanks for the help though, I'll figure it out before the third game comes out...or start from scratch.

Well 'tis a game well worth playing, so starting from scratch might not be that bad an idea.
Makes me want to go back and play them again before the new game comes out.
