Where's the Dark Knight game?

Have game developers given up on making movie tie-in games for Batman movies? After the debacle that was Batman Begins for Xbox, maybe they should. I think a decent 2-D side scrolling game for cell phones and/or the DS would be possible though. If they made it like Rise of Sin Tzu for Gameboy Advance only gave you more gadgets to choose from and maybe a driving level or two it would be great. For that matter, they could combine Batman Begins and Dark Knight into one game like that.

I'll probably try Lego Batman, but I'm not sure how well it will work given how dark the Batman universe has gotten with the recent movies and comics. Legos are too cute for the darker tone I'm afraid.

If you look back not all movie tie-ins have been utter wank, and this is the right sort of film to work as a video game.

be thankful there isn't one... i'm yet to see a movie game that doesn't ruin the movie... See Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End...


(though thinking about it... Starwars Ep 3 the game wasn't too bad... but i suppose they couldn't make it any worse...)

I was wondering the same thing. Then I reminded myself that all movie-based games suck and felt better.

And then I read that they're making one and am now sour about it. They're going to ruin it and it's going to fail miserably. They don't have Heath Ledger to do the voice acting, and that was the best part of the film.

I don't see why they couldn't edit some of Heath's clips to add them to the game. I am just thankful it didn't drop when the movie did. At least now there is a bit of hope that it can be good. Not going to get my hopes up but at least there is a chance it won't be rushed to coincide with the movie release.

I'd rather just buy the movie when it's released, and watch it a few hundred times. I can't foresee a game of The Dark Knight being remotely enjoyable - although I hope I'm wrong.

We're thinking the exact same thing. It was a great movie, let's not piss on it by adding a crap game-tie-in.

If they make a dark knight game, I expect a crazy brawler type game where we have lots of timed fighting scenes, and kick ass driving sequences, and ONE interactive cutscene where we choose our dialog.

It's a shame because they need the movie to be complete garbage for the game to be good(i.e. Chronicles of Riddick) but hey ya never know, maybe they'll break the mold and be the first game AND movie to get stellar ratings.

Heath Ledger wasn't the best part of the film. Wearing make-up, a trench coat, and licking your lips for an hour doesn't quantify good acting. The only reason there's so much Ledger hype is because he's dead. There wouldn't be much of a word about him if he was still alive. Aaron Eckhart made a much better character, in my opinion. He did the lone good part in a mediocre movie.

About the video game; I can't imagine it being good, because Batman games so far have been like, what? One for twelve? The odds of this one being good are slim to none.

I still agree with you that Aaron finally a fucking movie star Eckhart did a good job, but you pretty much said heath ledger sucks at acting because he was the joker. You criticized his costume more than his performance.

I didn't say he sucks at acting. I was just saying that he didn't give the "GREATEST PERFORMANCE EVAR!" like everyone says. It's not that he did a bad job at anything, it's just that nothing in his character really stood out, maybe because we weren't given any depth to him besides he's a raving psychopath that looks like a clown. After posting this, I later ran into a website for Verizon (which is my cell phone carrier) saying they have a Dark Knight game. Next time I'm far enough away from my apartment to download anything, I'll check it out and let you guys know if its any good. It's weird, but inside my apartment, I can make calls but can't download anything on my cell phone.

Ah ok, I took what ya said out of context. I don't think the reason is because he's dead (or at least not the whole reason) - but mainly because he still portrayed the Joker well, and it was Heath Ledger of all people.

I mean, Joker in TDK just really seemed like he thought Gotham was his playground, he loved toying with everything, all because he thought it was just hysterical, that's it, and you really didn't feel like you were watching "heath ledger" as opposed to typecasts like Micheal Cane (hey he's a good butler and "wise old guide", BUT WHAT ELSE HAS HE PLAYED?!). Heck even if it wasn't "performance of a lifetime" it was damn good, and better than Bale's batman (seriously what happened?) >_> - Ledger just seems to have really made the most out of what he was given - oh, and the "licking the lips" thing - in theater class they told us about this thing called a "master gesture", so I just saw it as "oh it's just Joker's master gesture" so it didn't annoy me or anything lol.

You can't say all movie tie-ins have sucked.
The LOTR games were pretty awesome.
The Alien games were also pretty good.
Kingdom Hearts is essentially a sequence of movie-tie ins.
Quite a lot of the Star Wars Games have been good.

Theres probably more I can't think of right now...
