This is a hard thing for me to ask, I feel kinda silly trying to. But here it is, if I want to start reading batman comics were do I start? Do I just look for a Batman #1? Do I need to find a certain batman series? Do I need to read the silver age batman? Whar do I do? If you have some explination on how to start reading it please tell me. And DON'T HIT ME!

Just pick up the latest issue, but make sure its not halfway through a mini arc or something.

Try looking at the films, they are a good place to start
Move on to the comic books then try the comics

Hope that helps

My personal batman was the Animated series batman. I suggest watching a few, then maybe picking up the comic books so long as it's not a half way through a story

You must read "The Killing Joke" "Year One" and "The Long Halloween".

They are some of the best Batman comics imo.

What are you asking? Do you want to start reading batman comics from the very beginning (would be hard) or do you just want to read comics? If it's the second then just pick up a comic and start reading, half the time they mention previous important storylines btw.

I have to admit batman comics aren't part of my regular selection of comics, but thats mostly because I prefer to just pick up his major storylines as graphic novels rather than sticking with a series (the main storylines tend to span all of his different series and I can't be bothered to follow all of them).

Here's a list of some of his previous mainstream storylines, all of which should be very easy to find:

-Death in the Family
-The Killing Joke
-Hush
-Final Crisis
-War Crimes
-Venom

There's many more but those are some decent ones.

This is an interesting question. I'm afraid no one can tell you which Batman is your Batman. That's your own decision. For me, my Batman was from somewhere in the 60's when Julius Schwatrz took over as editor and after Bob Kane had been retired up until the Crisis of Infinite Earths. Before that, Batman was sort of goofy as the 50's and the comics code was not nice to most superheroes. After Crisis, the emphatic badass batman took root. Not that some good stories didn't come out post Crisis, but Frank Miller's take because the goal everyone shot for and I don't like that Batman. I detested Year One. Dark Knight Returns was alright as an alternate version of the character, but terrible as the cannon version of the character. Besides, DKR has not aged well.

So, my preferred batman occurred in a very narrow band, mostly in the 70's/early 80's which was also my childhood. So it's no surprise this is my Batman. For your batman, i suggest looking towards your own childhood.
