I am saddened that 99% of the people that used "emo" as an insult for a band in this thread, actually have no idea what emo music is.
Well as far as emo goes its pretty much all of the same in the new age, Winey bitchey rich white kids. Somewhere down the line there daddy must have hit them over the head to hard for bitching cause they go all the way to cutting themselves.. Umm.... MY "F***ING" CHEMICAL "S**T FOR BRAINS" ROMANCE?
*Shakes head* That isn't emo. emo was stabbing westward. emo was rites of spring... I miss emo :(
But don't tell emo, they won't beleive you.
Just so you know dude, a "genre" is made of the people. Emo is now populated by whiney people and the whiney bands they listen to. Thus, whiney=emo now. Tadah! So, yes, MCR and their fans usually equate to emo. It's a dying genre, unfortunately it's not dying fast enough. But hey, if that pisses you off, Dragonforce is somehow considered metal... I was never aware that metal was whiney... Waaaaait! EUREIKA! Dragonforce is emos in disguise! I hath seen through their clever rues.
Dragonforce is emo? I always through they had robots playing because how they play that face astounds me at times.

Ooh and Dragonforce..

Now theres a band I hate for every reason ever!
When I first heard these guys I liked them, but after I listened to their other songs it occurred to me that all their songs sound the same. Also, the singer is nothing short of awful.

Christ, there are a lot of these out there. I'd have to say that my favorite to rip on is My Chemical Romance.

Did you guys just read my mind?

Like everyone else, I do hate emo and rap.
Here are some others.
-Slipknot
-System Of A Down
-Rage Against The Machine (I would enjoy it so much more if they were just instrumentals)

Prepare yourselves for what I'm about to say.
The Beatles
I said it. I made a post earlier asking why they're so good and now I understand, so I can appreciate their existence. Just not something want to take up space on my hard drive.

Don't all artists go on about how songs have "deep meaning" and lots of emotion in them?
So I think that all the artists ripping on emos is a little hypocritical to me.
Wait what? I don't get what you're saying. If you are saying other bands are hypocritical because there own songs have deep meaning and emotion in them, it's about how the meanings and aesthetics are conveyed. Watch emo music videos then watch The Wall and you'll see what I mean.

I honestly don't see why everyone hates Green Day so much, they're still good. If you look at the lyrics in detail and take the time to actually listen to them they're still a great band. And personally i don't hate Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance or Panic! At The Disco, although their new albumn is aweful but i can see why other people don't like them. i totally agree with Enter Shikari, i hate them and i think if you have to pick on on bands that aren't that bad, have a listen to the radio for an hour or so, now thats shit. eg, Timbaland, Pussy Cat Dolls, Rhianna, and any other love songs by crappy female artists. (urgh amy whinehouse *shudders*)

Any emo/goth bands, not only is there music shambolic but the fans who defend them saying that their counter culture and labelling anyone else a sheep brained norm who dress the same and listen to the same music. Does anyone else see the irony in this?

All these so called indie bands that should just change there names to The Artic Libertines.

All rap

All x factor/american idol and such like unoriginal manufactuered carp. They need shooting or simon bloody cowell will end becoming the all powerful unquestionable ruler of the universe

Where to begin:
Metallica, RHCP, Linkin Park, Green Day (Post-Dookie), Iron Maiden, AC/DC,...
Ok, I agree with Linkin Park, Green Day, and RHCP, but Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Metallica? Iron and AC/DC are just good to listen too, there are few songs by them that are just straight up bad. But I suppose if you've only really listened to Metallica's new stuff you'd be able to say that. Pretty much anything made by Metallica after 1995 was crap, except for their S&M concert wit the symphony orchestra. That was pretty awesome. They need to get back on the drugs, start drinking again and grow out their hair. That is the sorce of their power!
Those Master of Puppets/ ... and Justice For All days are LONG GONE my friend, Metallica just sucks now.
I know, I just wish they weren't. Makes me die a little inside to know such an amazing band went to such levels of crapdom.

Also, I forgot this one in my previous posts. How in the name of all that is good and just can anyone even come close to liking the "music" of Insane Clown Posse? That is honestly one of the worst....freaking, absolute worst bands/groups of all time. Though it has yet to be conclusively proved through scientific research, it is my theory that for every ICP song you are forced to listen to you lose about the same amount of brain cells as you would if you took a hammer and struck yourself in the forehead five times. Very hard. Like, breaking of bone hard.

Disregarding my disdain for country/western and most hip-hop*, I'm tired of everyone's infatuation with System of a Down. The artists may only be self-important blowhards, but they're popular with idiots of every stripe.

*That includes ICP. Good god.

Nirvana, not bad but horribly overrated. Their silly grundge stole the spotlight from Jeff Buckley!

Rage Against the Machine: "The govorment sucks! All corporations are evil and suck! Fuck! Anarchy!"
I'm going to kill you. Well I can kind of see your point with Rage Against, they are rather hard to listen to due to their style, but Nirvana! Dude, who can't like them? Kurt Cobain is my second favorite man in the world.
Anyone who can't handle being famous and richer than the Queen needs to be dug up and killed again.

Anyone who is a millionaire but doesn't bathe or wash his hair needs to be dug up and killed again.

Sorry, Dude. Truth is harsh.

EDIT: Since I actually half-like Nirvana (just not Cobain), I'll say Nickelback.

And Pink Floyd; I had to listen to that shit in high school. Yes, I get it: you're high. Big deal, everyone I know is high. People who can't even read are high. It's really nothing to brag about.

Oh god i hate pink floyd. My dad had his albumn on repeat in the car all the way from adelaide to darwin, and i hated it at the begining of the trip, i can't stand listening to it now. aweful. And yes i agree with anyone dissing rap and/or remix's especially when they ruin perfectly good songs or make bad songs even worse.

The Hives. They sound like a broken refrigerator.

You don't have to be high to enjoy Pink Floyd ;)

I think the only way you can enjoy pink floyd is to be high, and even then, it'd be really hard.

oh dear i think I have created the next online phrase, and it was out of fury...
I'd also like to point out that at T in the park (music festival) REM (my favourite band) had less coverage than.....MY "F***ING" CHEMICAL "S**T FOR BRAINS" ROMANCE

Another band I'd like to mention is Avenged Sevenfold...my friends absolutly pay tribute to them by the barrel, its driving me mad...
I "try" to talk to them but some how it reverts to some song by them...
And curse you Rock Band, curse ye to the very depths of my toilet...
As the only person in my friends to have the utter balls and low self esteem, why have I got to sing two Avenged Sevenfold songs and only one REM (and not a "famous one too")

"Orange Crush" not a famous one? That's one of their MOST famous, the only more famous songs are "Its the End of the World" and "Losing my Religion".

emo music was a post hardcore rock scene out of DC in the early 90's (see Dischord Records)

My Chemical Romance is actually referential of AFI, stadium rock, black metal flourishes, and rock operas. nothing to do with emo.
Actually, they're neither. They're shit. :)

I agree with MCR (ya rly), Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Paramore...as for Dragonforce, they're entertaining to listen to every now and then, but I hate when people think they have much actual musical talent; their live act is awful. Dream Theater has done everything that Dragonforce has done better and with more skill, even if their vocalist is a tad weak sometimes. Also, Avenged Sevenfold, and System of a Down's first album, as well as some of their later stuff, because they try too hard to be controversial and forget to spend time on the music. When they focus on the music, though, they're great.

Am i really the first one to say these two 'bands'.

1.Simple Plan

There music is simply repetitive, uninspiring they only make one point in each of there songs witch is to lock yourself in your room and cry all night.

2. Hanna Montana she has no real skill here songs are pretty much talking. The only why 9 year olds like that music is because of the beat.
agreed here too.

Hmmm, thats a tough one since I haven't actually listened to the radio or had anything to do with mainstream music in ages.
But as a generalisation, indie, emo and pop bands and any band that claims to be alternative when they sound exactly the same as the next bunch of skin-tight jeans wearing idiots.
I do have respect for those in that group who don't take themselves seriously or knowingly take advantage of the idiot fan base (like james blunt) even though I think his music sucks (as does he)
