I'd be the tyrant. I'd have my evil army of evilness go do evil things. I'd wouldn't torture people for the heck of it but woo betide the hero who tried to get in my way. I'd probably let the power go to my head though, but I hope I wouldn't do anything too stupid.
Would he be considered number 1 or 2? I really can't tell.

I wouldn't be inclined to be evil, but if I was inclined to give in to megalomania, I've gotta go with the endless web of robotic servants approach. People are unreliable. Adequately advanced technology trumps all opposition.
Shadows, pulling the strings making ppl die while I get more and more power... BWAHAHAHAHA! ehm... sorry for that....

Seeing as this isn't possible anyway, i would transcend mortality and be the "shadow of intent", I sort of imagine this to be very much along the side lines idea however i am the little voice in your head that spontaneously produces these terrible thoughts and makes them seem like a good idea.
I tend to think of it as you walking beneath a lamp post clasping a teddy for dear life unsure of what is quite wrong in the world, unable to see the growing darkness that is your shadow slowly consuming the darkened street you're walking down.
A bit like this. Only with a little less panic, or hell even with it, people pull the silliest faces when they're panicking.

well i have been told i had a good vs evil complex, for example if i lived in the star wars universe i could totally see myself being a jedi, but betraying everyone to be a sith lord. So i would want raw power but also the ability to control things from the shadows. Also the power to fight off the defenders of good, or maybe corrupting them aswell, and after turning them i would use them as pawns or tools to further my control....

I'd be the shadow ruler of the world, I already have an enforcer and public face set up! I would do the logistics of the takeover, but then sit back not doing work nyoro~(naturally I will have posted the Evil Overlord List on my bedroom wall to avoid stupid threats to my power)
I would be a really lame evil kinda guy, since I am very introspective I'd never have the problem of "overthrowing the tyrant to only become one".
I suppose tyrant is the closest thing I could get to, though I'd never have arbitrary slavery, slavery would be a punishment not a social class (I sympathize too much with the working class to make them slaves)
my rule of the world would be by some some peoples standards a horrible iron fisted dictatorship and to others it would be a utopia.
The government would never be a place for those seeking power, it is a group of people serving the greater good of the general population, nothing else.
Punishment would be swift and brutal to those who break a set of laws; sexual assault (especially of a minor), murder (assuming they are not insane) ect ect.
