I'm having a good time with Fallout 3, recently finished "Waters of Life", and am more than likely going to get one of the DLC quests this christmas. I was wondering which is the most fun in your opinions, and where exactly they slot into the game. Do they just open up a new location on the map, what?

If you can only get one then get Broken Steel. Allows you to carry on playing and add's some interesting new quests.

But honestly, if I was you I'd go and grab the GOTY edition and sell the one you've got now. You'll save yourself some money on getting all the DLC, and 3 of them are definatley worth it.
Broken Steel, Point Lookout and The Pitt are excellent. Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage are ok, but I wouldn't pay £6 for them.

NOT Mothership Zeta. That was the most boring three hours of gaming I've put myself through for a long time.

Broken Steel, and Mother Ship Zeta. Personally I liked Mother Ship Zeta the best, because it was weird and funny.

Broken Steel is useful 'cos it lets you keep playing past the ending and raises the level cap. Oh, and the Tesla Cannon, slow and unwieldy as it is, it's too awesome.
The Pitt is useful 'cos... ammo press.
Operation: Anchorage is useful for the awesome armour you get at the end.
Mothership Zeta is useful for getting loads of Alien Biogel (which can be made into Adapted Biogel) to heal conveniently and Alien Epoxy to fix weapons.
Point Lookout is useful for... er, well, not much really.

In terms of story and other stuff: Point Lookout is the best by far. Then the order is roughly: Broken Steel and The Pitt equal, Mothership Zeta and then Anchorage.

And yes, they all open up new places outside the Capital Wasteland (except Anchorage which is a VR simulation, but it's a different environment etc). The only crossover into the Wasteland that I can recall is one mission on Point Lookout in which... nah, y'know what, you'll find out.

If you have plans on buying more than a couple of them, you're almost better off getting the GOTY edition and installing the DLC from it. I list them in the order I played them.

Operation: Anchorage... this is a pretty linear shooter. The game engine isn't a really good combat engine, so this isn't terribly good. But you can score some amazing loot after finishing it.

Mothership Zeta... another linear shooter and the aliens are way too easy to kill. I mostly used melee items. Worth playing because alien weapons score big money and the Alien Disintegrater is pretty damn good weapon. They take your gear away at the start, but you get it back pretty quickly. Just make sure you search everything until you find it.

The Pitt... some decent loot in this one, but if you have Anchorage, there's not much point collecting all the ingots to get the best gear. If you're not careful, you'll miss getting your gear back. You get access to it about halfway through and I didn't see any notification. I had to read a walkthrough to find it (you can find it in a foot locker immediately after winning your freedom). Best thing about it is a machine that lets you convert bullets into different bullets. Great for stocking up on your favorite ammo.

Broken Steel... raises the level cap, adds lots of cool perks, and has a pretty epic final battle. Pretty much a required purchase, although there's not tons of mission content.

Point Lookout... probably the most expansive of the DLC. It adds a lot of locations and since Maryland wasn't touched by warheads, it has a different look & feel. It also has some of the best main missions, especially a surreal level featuring the bobbleheads. But too many of the locations are little more than points on a map and the Swamp People don't have enough variety to keep it from feeling like attack of the clones. I also had the worst problem with freezes on this one. The epic battles in Broken Steel were pretty bad, but in Point Lookout, I was saving every five minutes just to avoid losing progress. The outdoor regions had the game chugging on my PS3.

You're going to hear GOTY edition. A lot. All 5 for a better price than individually... I think. Anyway, if you have to get only one, I'd suggest Broken Steel, for the increased levell cap, and fixing the lame ending.
