I know that almost nobody played this game on earth, but in Bullet Witch, you could morph your gun in a minigun type weapon, which could be augmented with lightning. So in terms of fun, a minigun that shoots lightint elemental bullets, so that you stun them with electricity while you shred them with lead, well, it MUST have a special place in my heart. Soooo satisfying :)

The minigun from Wolfenstein 3D is a classic and pretty iconic since BJ wields it on the cover art. =3

The Minigun in Worms is the best. Nothing survives that thing.
Yes, so very much yes!

Also, TF2's minigun is great fun. Not because of the gun so much, but because it's priceless to hear the Heavy going "HYAAHHHHH AHAHAHAHA CRY SOME MOARRRRR"

cod4.. the Ac-130 spectre gunship.. "you are cleared to engage the moving vehicle and any targets you can see"... "KABOOM"
Yesss, that is a very good representation
The Taliban in Afghanistan call the AC-130s "Red Tornadoes" because the tracer rounds at night form a solid stream of red. Since they fly in a circle there's basically a swirling vortex of red tracer rounds flying down into the desert. Needless to say, you don't want to be in the vortex.

By the way it's technically a gatling gun not a mini gun but who cares?

The one from CoD4 is my favorite as well. However I like the one from the downed helicopter sequence.

Whilst I haven't seen that exact video before, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Wouldn't mind me a real minigun. Although there is also the Metal Storm guns, which shoot 16,000 rounds per second. Yes thats right, it shoots over 5 times the amount of rounds a minigun can fire in a minute, but in a second... WHY??? :p

A minigun has to be fed ammunition by a belt system and physically strike each bullets with a hammer or pin to ignite the primer and expel the bullet while metal storm weapons actually hold the round in the actual chamber and fires them electronically.

At the infantry level it's called suppressive fire. You want to pin someone down so you can flank them. Also if you throw up a "wall of lead" than something is bound to be hit and that can be demoralizing to an enemy. Look at the D-Day depictions such as the one in "Saving Private Ryan" or the battle of Mogadishu in "Black Hawk Down". If you get a chance to get on a Naval Destroyer they have massive gatlin guns designed to destroy incoming missiles.

Thread bounce.

I'd say the miniguns in Just Cause 2 are among the most fun I've seen. Not realistic, but fun. The mounted one can be detached and carried (a bit like in Lost Planet), but it makes you unable to jump and run, and you have to stop while firing.

But the sounds and particle effects are awesome, and it throws enemy soldiers all over the place. It can even be used to destroy structures. And you have infinite ammo. Again, not realistic, but fun.

The helicopter miniguns in JC2 also mow down trees (but not the portable one, alas).

What? The minigun in Fallout 3 is not realistic at all... It is IMPOSSIBLE to fire a minigun whilst on foot.
