So I'm thinking about getting a game system, I've got a Wii, but it's a Wii, so, yeah. What do you think I should get? A gaming computer, Xbox 360, or a PS3. Here's a list of preferences and facts. If it's over a $1,000 then I probably won't get it.

xbox 360
-I will never ever ever pay for xbox live, ever, and I mean it.
-There aren't any exclusives I really care about that much.
-Controller fit my hand pretty well (don't laugh)
-the community
-it uses voice chat a lot, which is nice
-it uses voice chat a lot, which is bad

PS3
-Good exclusives
-It has blue-ray
-I'm not used to the controls
-FREE ONLINE!
-It's more powerful
-I can't tell the difference in graphics between it and the xbox 360
-I think it's mandatory installation

PC
-has a lot of good games
-good communities
-endless modding possibilities
-there are OS and virus issues
-it's exspensive
-fricking compatibility...
-I can't build a PC

Mac
-they look cool
-no problems with malware
-soooooooooooooo expensive
-mandatory installation...

i like pc myself, they get the majority of games, and if you get a half-decent antivirus you'll be fine... a decent system isn't that expensive either, comparitively

You should add "The online is free BECAUSE it's shit" to your fact list about the PS3. I own a PS3, Xbox 360, and a gaming PC, and majority of my gaming is on my Xbox 360 due to the exceptional service that is Xbox Live.

What exactly do you plan on playing majority of the time? If multiplayer doesn't matter to you, then it sort of alters what you need from the console.

Get a Pc. For $800 or so you can get a computer that can run Crysis on near max settings. Look for a good custom build, order the parts on newegg.com, and then build it yourself(it's not hard at all0 or get your local tech shop to put it together for you. Seriously, the 360 and PS3 are just bad copies of a PC. At least the Wii has different controls and the games have a generally different feel then PC games. But almost any game on the Ps3 and 360 can be had on the PC and it will look better and be moddable. The only genre PCs lack are JRPGS. Those stay mostly on the consoles.

The answer you are looking for is gaming PC. It's possible to find a decent one under 1000 bucks but really that money could be put into a 360 Elite, a couple great games, xbox live, and still have a couple hundred left over.

If you have the money for a good PC, get that. Just get decent anti-virus software and don't be stupid while browsing and you wont have virus problems.

Really, I recommend you rethink the xbox live thing. It's not that expensive. But if you still wont, there's really no reason to get an xbox. (At least in my opinion, I really like online play)

So if you don't want XBL I'd say
1. PC
2. PS3
3. Xbox 360

Edit: And it's not hard to learn how to put a computer together, so don't make that rule out the PC option.

Buy a Super Famicom it was the best thing I ever did with my life. I payed 20 bucks for it and got around 12 games for 60 bucks.

Stick with the PC or PS3 depending on what games you want. 360 exists for people like my step brother, who play a shooter for an hour a day maybe, if they're bored with their snowboards and myspace, and still whine and complain about the Wii calling themselves gamers.

PC has a lot more titles, but PS3 has some fun exclusive titles, one of which i'd recommend is Disgaea 3. PS3 also plays PS2 and 1 games.

PC plays everything predating the gamecube.

I never understand people complaining about PSN being aweful. It's actually not bad, just definitely not as good as Live.

But I agree, it really depends on how the system will be played. If you want massive multi-player and don't mind paying extra for it, the 360 is a pretty good choice. If multi-playing doesn't appeal to you, then the PS3 is the better system.

If money isn't as much of an issue and gaming isn't your only desire, a good PC that can run anything on the market isn't as expensive as you might think, unles you're only looking at Alienware, Falcon, or some other big-name gaming company.

I have a 360 myself (and XBox Live). But it sounds like you would want a PS3 more. You could get used to the controls, right? Its a small price to pay for free online, ba-dum-TISH.

Well, if you're after a game system, Mac is out!

If you can't built or maintain a PC, then don't bother about that.

If you just want to play games, buy a console.

It you play a lot of online, then you'll have to get the PS3, if not, cause you won't pay for Xbox live, then get the 360.

Don't forget PS3 games tend to be more expensive than 360, well they are here in OZ anyway, usually about 20% dearer, which would quickly use up any savings you would make by not buying xbox live.

Xbox 360 has many more platinum and cheaper games than PS3.

I love my PS3, I also love my 360. You should buy a 360 as it's the most versatile console, has the best games and largest library of games.

If you do like to play a heap of multiplayer, don't want to pay for xbox live, and all your friends have PS3, then get a PS3.

Alternatively, weigh up the pro's and cons of each console, then make up your own damn mind!

Good luck!

Yeah, I'd figure them out pretty quickly.

How much would it cost to get a tech shop to build it, and are there any cheaper pre-made builds?

Well aren't you fucking cool, stereotyping millions of people into a single category. I play games all the time and my favorite console is the 360, because of the massive library of games that is available to me.

And exactly what exclusives are you talking about? You mean Ratchet and Clank? Because that's the only one that comes to mind that I find fun.

PS3 is not a bad console, I did buy one after all, but you're being overly dramatic.

There are? I've had my PC for a good while and I've never had an issue with viruses or my OS (Windows XP for those interested)

-it's exspensive
Pay for quality.

-fricking compatibility...
Qué?

-I can't build a PC
Teach yourself to. It's really not hard at all. I'm sure you can find countless little 'guides' on the internet on how to do it. I didn't need to learn because my older brother did it for me, but before he offered I'd poked a few guides with a cursory glance, though I couldn't tell you where they were now.

Really, I can't advise anything except PC. Having a gaming PC is just awesome.

I don't know why but we have a couple monitors lying around here. They're desktops though, but since they're lying around that is kind of obvious, and I mean old desktops that look like small TVs and are wider then their height.

Cheaper pre-made builds? As in from dell or something? Sure...if you want a type writer. Here's a tip that i learned the hard way: NEVER EVER buy a premade computer from any company. You will end up buying at least 50% more. You might find some good parts on the cheap if your lucky. I know somebody build a computer that can play Crysis on Enthusiast settings for just $500. As for your cost question, I have no idea. I highly doubt it would cost above $100. Most probably less.

I like the Playstation 3 the best. It has free online. I haven't had a lot of luck with my computer (if you've ever used a security program called spysweeper then you know what I'm talking about.) You have to worry about getting hacked and dealing with hackers on a computer, but not so much on a PS# or XBOX 360. I like the PS3 game selection better. It's got inFAMOUS, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc. I can't really give a recommendation between a computer or PS3, but in my opinion, both are better than the XBOX 360.
