Yes I know this has been asked before (In fact I have asked this question before on here myself.) but please bear with me.

My GPU is the last major hardware upgrade I need to take care of. I was planning to get one back when ATI's 4000 series was still hot stuff but I decided to hold out a bit longer. With my 360 giving me problems (See my RROD thread.) I figure it's about time to start shifting my focus away from that particular console and focus more on PC, since many of the games I would want to play on a 360 that are not on a PS3 come out on PC. Would this card [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102858] be a good buy? Any other suggestions? (Try to stick with ATI cards because my motherboard has Crossfire and I would like the possibility of using that in the future with any card that I purchase.)

The 5770 is nearly equivalent to a 4850 - they perform pretty much onpar with the 4850 edging out slightly in some circumstances because of it's greater memory bus - so it's a steal - plus the 4850 doesn't have the 5770's DX11 support.

As educatedfool says though nVidia have something up there sleeve, a friend of mine who works in purchasing for a major e-tailer says he can't say anything - that only happens when he's signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and that only happens prior to launch so expect them before christmas.

At which point the ATi cards will drop in value - either way I'd say wait until after crimbo if you can anyway for the christmas shopping price gouging to be done with.
