ok so, i love playing MMORPG games, always have.
Used to be a runescape player a looooong time ago, then gave up and started guild wars, then gave up and started World of warcraft.

Im a bit bored of WoW though right now, cuz theres nothing new until december so,
im looking into starting another MMO.

Tried everquest when it was the steam weekend deal, and didnt get on with it well.
Tried the eve free trial and got bored within minutes,
have a perfect world account, just dont really get the point of it,

anyone got an MMO to suggest, or maybe point out the aim of PWI? :p

wait, what?
ok sorry for not making that clear but,
by MMO i meant a game that i can actually play, not watch a browser ticking down a timer until something happens

Well if you feel like blowing 100 bucks and taking a huge risk, final fantasy 14 just came out a few days ago :p. pretty big budget title, I just didn't bother to play it cus I don't think my computer has the balls to handle it, or if your looking for a cheaper alternative, check out MMOhut.com, Ive been using that website to hunt for MMO's to pass those periods where I just don't feel like playing warcraft.

accidentally quoted someone, disregard that.

Nothing worthwhile on the market currently. Wait for GW2/TOR as those two seem the closest ones. Eventually you could try AoC, for all the bad press it got on release it wasn't that terrible when i played it and the melee combat was at least interesting with all those combos you actually had to perform.

If your just looking for something to pass the time till Cataclysm I would say Dungeons and Dragons online witch is F2P or Lord of the Rings Online (also f2p I think). Neither of those are going to blow your mind but they aren't bad ways to spend a few hours and don't cost a thing.

If your looking for a replacement for WOW I have no idea. There are so few mmo's out there that are not direct wow clones. Maybe Fallen Earth, no idea if its good though since my computers on the fritz and I'm on a budget.

I suggest DDO, it's pretty fun, especially if you have a background in dnd. It's also free, so if you don't like it, your not out anything.

I think you may find this page [http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1116616p1.html] very useful. IGN breaks down each game's strengths and weaknesses.

I recommend Guild Wars, or waiting for Guild Wars 2. Both are excellent games.

But as I've said before:

LotRO has just gone free to play. That's kept my attention for the longest time since EverQuest 1. Alternatively wait for GW2/SW:TOR

The first MMO (and game on the pc) I played was RuneScape, which i back then thought was the best game in existance, but i knew little of games back then and RuneScape was the only game i played (don´t judge me, it was primary school). Recently i played LordoftheRingsOnline for a while, since it was free, i liked the game much but i got bored and quit. At the moment i´m playing DungeonsandDragonsOnline which i prefer over LotRo because DDO is more focused on doing quests with a party instead of just soloing the whole game.

Edit: one thing i noticed while playing LotRo was that the community was very very mature, which was nice being a ``beginning player´´.

Don't!
I tried BOTI once, and within two days of playing it, I started to try to rearrange my schedule to better fit the timed what-nots, overwhelmed by this creeping urge to buy premium stuff.
Then it hit me: Battle of the Immortals is a gamer's Farmville.

Its dressed up to look like an MMORPG, but the only way to play it well is to let it run your life and buy the premium items it keeps annoying you about.
But with Perfect World, yeah, I feel the same way. I'll run around and have fun for a little while, until I walk into town, seeing level capped players with their fancy mounts and outfits, realise that, through a fluke in logic, I have a fancy mount and outfit, and go, "What's the point," too. Honestly, I don't find anything in this game to attach myself too. I respect the game for what it is, but it just doesn't speak to me.

MMORPGs I would suggest... Well, for one, I'd suggest Fiesta. Its a pretty casual MMORPG, with only four class arcetypes, a few crafting/enhancing systems and a portal-based, rather than open world. The thing that really gets me about it is that it has, for the most part, a chipper, silly community, and the staff likes to be involved, too.
Let's just say that I've had very few bad experiences with this game.

Lunia was also pretty good- not a true MMORPG- normally only four can play togeter, more in special circumstances -but you could still socialize in the root town. Its respectable.

Dungeon Runners was fun, but got cancelled... :(

Generally, there are few MMORPGs that appeal to me, largely because I want to be able to enjoy them without their becoming my life. Good luck finding one that suits your needs.

Get Guild Wars and then get hyped for GW2.

Only thing is that 4.01, in WoW, is patching in all likelihood next week, followed by a steady trickle of world events (like the gnomergon event) through October/November...

Dunno, 2 months before launch in WoW is usually a bunch of fun, for me at least.
