The Witcher 2. Loving it.

I'm trying to play Baldur's Gate for the first time. Not really going so well. I know nothing about D&D.
Don't bother with Baldur's Gate 1. It's confusing and not very rewarding even for D&D players.

That, and the whole story is a fairly insignificant intro to the more important events to come.

Skip right to BG2: Shadows of Amn. By the time you leave the intro dungeon, you should have a fair grasp on the game.

If you're not sure what to get in what stat, well, BG2 is one of those games that you might consider reading an FAQ for. I promise you it's worth playing though.
Thanks for the tip. I think I'll follow your advice, actually. At some point, you have to say, "Well this just isn't for me". Know of any particularly good FAQs for BG2? I generally like to be an archer in RPGs (and generally have a disdain for magic).
I used this one; it pretty much covers everything, including the ToB expansion.

I've never really liked archery in D&D (or in BG2), but an archery-based party could probably work. Not using magic is just...well, let's just say magic is the most powerful thing in the D&D world.

Totally disagree. What's confusing ? lol. You should use BGT (Baldurs Gate Trilogy) so you can turn BG 1&2 into one big game using the engine of BG2. Then dl some banter and romance mods for BG1 from http://www.shsforums.net/

I love the low level d&d feel and exploration of BG1 and so do alot of ppl, btw.

Download the official manual for BG2 and read it before you play. Remember if your using BGT, that's the manual you should be reading, mechanics wise (doesn't have anything to do with the story except the part about the character descriptions.
I guess I'm not that kind of D&D player. Massive exploration with little hinting at where to go, too many insignificant characters and buildings, etc isn't my thing. I like open world, but with at least some linearity. Also, low level D&D sucks! No epic dragon fights, no cool spells...

In any case, I feel BG2 is MUCH more friendly to non-D&D players than BG1 is. Most games nowadays are at least somewhat linear, and giant maps with nothing important in them don't really show up in any newer games...

Oh, and BG1 had like, zero character interaction, and I felt character actions was a fantastic touch in BG2 (though it's like 75% romantic. Can't make friends that you don't plan on going to bed with, eh?). Maybe some banter mods would've helped though, dunno. I didn't know they existed >_>

PS: I did get the Trilogy set. I tried out BG1 for a day, said to myself "bleh, this isn't my thing," tried out BG2, never looked back.

Playing the APB:Reloaded Open Beta. I had played the original APB, but got incredibly frustrated. It's turning out cool now though.

Just finished Portal 2, still doing some of the multiplayer when my girlfriend is in the mood.
Just installed borderlands on my laptop despite being sure it wouldn't work, and trying to relearn how to play it now I can lie in bed and play with a controller. (Also as the sniper instead of the siren because rapid fire guns screw my pc over somehow)

X-Com: UFO: Enemy Unknown. Finally got the game to give me a break, and NOT have a night time terror mission for my first one.

I'm in the middle of an abusive substance binge with Minecraft, Starcraft 2 and TF2.
Dug myself a pretty deep hole.

TF2 and CoD:4. also waiting for updates to minecraft and terraria.

Gonna test out War inc, downloading it now. (free third person shooter). ok tested now and it was pretty much just shit. well it's ok, controlls are not really good, aiming and stuff is awfull and also there is a lot of rebind bugs.

Seems like a lot of the escapists are playing tf2. o_O
A lot of older games also which is pretty awesome. ^^

Neverwinter Nights Diamond edition. Better than watching streaming reality shows on Netflix with my roommates.

Just started playing Witcher 2 yesterday and after being disappointed with Dragon Age 2 I can honestly say that I think that the Witcher 2 one of the best games I've played in a long while.

It is challenging (something very lacking in most games these days) but it is not cheap. I also think that the writing and the way the dialog is structured sets a new high-bar for video game storytelling.

Went into playing the Witcher 2 without any expectations and I am just blown away.

Left 4 Dead 2, in between sessions of Commandos 2.

Also there are a lot of people who think that "older PC games = better PC games".

This is complete balls and should be disregarded. Fuck that and fuck them.
