The guy was making fun of the Airplane crash that had the polish president (and half the damn government) on it!

Medieval. Futuristic usually involves a lot of closed quarter, rusty, dank, disgusting places. I much prefer scenic, sunny locations to kill monsters in.

Or he could have been talking about something like idk Skies of Arcadia, but hey I'm not the one with ESP here.

Wait, what? I'm talking about airships. Like Zeppelins or FF style airships.

I prefer fantasy settings (namely Faerun) but I still love games that are set in the future like Mass Effect and KoToR (which is actually a long long time ago, but it still counts).

Loved them both, but I've always preferred the realms of fantasy: Swords, Elves, Dragons, Multi-layered realms, Magic, Demons, and Deities.

i like anything if done well, however atm I'm into the star wars setting after another run through of KOTOR (Can't wait for SW:TOR!)

Although my favourite setting in books is non-clichéd fantasy, (no elves or dwarfs) for example the setting in Robin Hodd's books.

I like them all.

Although admittedly I don't like stuff set in space as much as the other types.

Final Fantasy XIII's world was visually stunning, was a shame you couldn't explore it more.

I like the Warhammer 40K setting. Mostly because it is filled with unimaginal horrors and SPESS MAHREENS!

In terms of looks, I'd have to go with medieval or steampunkish fantasy. Games like FFIX, and Oblivion have amazingly well realized worlds. In terms of story, however, i would have to say Sci-Fi. Both settings have the capacity to tell any story they want (they are fantasy and can use majic/tech to get around the impossible), but swords and sorcery fantasy tends to repeat or at least borrow heavily from Tolkiens world. This is all a generalization I'm sure everyone can think of loads games that break the mould, it just seems to me that Sci-Fi settings have less of an obligation to conform to a pre-existing idea.

I love both, actually. I'm a Sci-Fi geek, but in gaming I also adore the fantasy settings. Impossible to pick, in my case.
That's why Stargate is awesome.

I'm the same really, but am a sucker for outer space. I do enjoy the aspect of Tolkienesque fantasy though, as I enjoy exploring terrain and foraging for treasure immensely.
