I have seen bad review after bad review on this game and I always just walked by the game not caring about it. Now lately I have been looking for a RPG on my PS3 where you create your own character and class (I have Fallout3 and Oblivion on PC already, and Demons Souls, FF13, Borderlands, 3D Dot Game Heroes) and the search was thin.

My wife picked out White Knight Chronicles (WKC) and said what about this? last week and I just said that game suckssss and walked off. Then started to look into it and it may be what we are looking for and ended up finding a copy at Toys R Us for $34.99 new.

Its not the most perfect game, ive also only had about 11 hours in the game so far, but I think its a really fun and interesting game and world. We are both MMO lovers so maybe that helps us like this more, but regardless we are both into this game big time from out of nowhere.

One of the best features for me was how they do classes by spec points. You put your points into Elemental Magic and it opens areas to gain more mana and INT thus turning you into a mage, and I guess if you start to spread your points you can develop a main weapon like sword or spear too - but there are a ton of skills in each area to train in and it really makes things unique.

I have not gotten online yet but look forward to seeing what that brings, anyone else here even like this game? We were pleasantly suprised by this title and I look forward to running thru it and cant wait to see how they change things with WKC2, if they fix all the quirks it could really be a big hit IMO.

Good for you, I'm glad you can enjoy a game regardless of the community's decision on it.

1-up complementary from me to you.

As 101194 said it's good to see that people can still like a game even if alot of people don't. You should like a game depending on what you think of it.

OT: This game was on my radar as something I would get but it slipped off at some point. hmm well maybe I'll pick it up after I've finished Star ocean the last hope.

Ha.. one of the other games I was looking for was Star Ocean, which is for some reason not around in my shops in this area (I wont support used game sales in stores)

I may have to pick up Star Ocean and Eternal Sonata from Amazon at some point.. maybe Folklore too.

All hail Level-5! All hail Level-5! Praise be-

[/fanboyism]

I need a PS3. All of Level-5's games are amazing, I'm not expecting this to be an exception.

Glad you enjoyed it. Personally I got annoyed that after spending an hour in character customization, I realized that character was of no consequence in the main story. Talk about pointless.

But if you're into RPGs, you really should look into Dragon Age. It's highly story-driven with a great customization system and engaging characters.

Thats the single biggest thing I think people have with this game, its totally tailored to an NPC char and for the whole first half of the game your character is a side character. Thinking about it I like that being that you are a new worker and new to the area so shouldnt start out as the hero, plus all the cut scenes would be hard with a custom character I guess, or take more money/manpower than they had.

But my character is totally unique.. he is a gnome-like midget old man with a giant nose and stands out in the world no matter what he does.

I have Dragon Age and think its ok, this to me is as fun as I ever had in Dragon Age.. especially with the Online portion
