White Knight Chronicles. Who's Getting it?

This thread is the result of boredom.

If you don't know, White Knight Chronicles is a new real time combat JRPG from Sony.

It was released in Japan about a year ago and is just now coming to Europe and America.

So I just am curious to know, who's buying it?

I myself will wait for the price to go down a bit but I've heard its been compared to Kingdom Hearts, and that's one of my favorite games of all time, so I'll most likely get it as soon as possible.

Not me, because in recent times I have come to hate the turn-based-standing-in-a-line style of fighting.

I want to be able to beat my enemy by skill or tactics, not through seeing who can take more hits.

disclaimer: I know that it can be tactical, but it never seems to me to be that tactical.

Probably not, the reviews I have seen have been fairly lukewarm towards the game. With so many AAA games coming out soon I doubt I'll find the time to check it out.

I don't have a PS3, but it didn't make me want one. And I LIKE Jrpgs.

Heavy Rain on the other hand, I'm buying it without a PS3 to play it one, and I'll just look at the disc or something.

I thought it looked interesting but most of the import impressions imply that the game is best played as a Diablo Esque Co-Op RPG and that the Single Player Game doesn't offer much, which for me is always a major turn off. I may rent it.

I'm definitely getting it. The funny thing about this game is that it has sold quite well in spite of the relatively lackluster critical reception. Oh, and by the way the combat is a combination of real time and turn based.

And opinions of the game in Japan have been VERY mixed. Some people hate it, some people love it, and some people have very mixed feelings about it.

The non-japanese reviews and opinions that the game has received so far seem to have followed this trend to the letter. So far the worst review it has gotten is from IGN, which gave it a 5.1 out of 10. But the best one is from Eurogamer, which gave it an 8 out of 10. Now the Eurogamer review is significant and important for two reasons. First, Eurogamer has a reputation for being harsh and harder to please than other reviewers. So when they give a game anything above a 7 it generally means something. Second, they actually reviewed the original Japanese version of the game and Level 5 has been making a lot of additions and doing a lot of tweaking since then. One of the most notable changes to the game since release is the inclusion of Voice chat for the online mode.

So the question you should be asking yourself when you're considering a purchase is which of these three categories will YOU fall into? Will you hate it, love it, or fall somewhere in between?

Actually, its not real time like Kingdom Hearts.

You fill a gauge and select an attack... It is more similar to Final Fantasy XII.

I am not going to get it... Was interested at the begining (back in E3 05), but now the game doesn't look that hot (it reminds me more of a MMORPG, combat-wise)

Oh, I think there's also something else I should mention. This game seems to be essentially the polar opposite of Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls is very hard, serious, dark, and unforgiving. This game on the other hand is user-friendly, accessible, and relatively light-hearted.

I plan on getting it. It's on my big list of "JRPGs that are comming out that I want to play with a firey passion."
But that list pretty much all pales in comparison to FFXIII...
So, it's on a list, and it'll stay there for a while...

It looks like one of the few less samey JRPGs. I'll give it a try at my friends (he's crazy over it) and if its good, then I'll get it. On the line of mebbe, mebbe not at present.

Real Time over turn based strategy is a big up to me, but if that real time combat is repetitive and dull... still suckish by my view.

End all: Might be good, might be bad, might be terribad. We will see, and in my case, play a bit for free.
