Do people actually care about the color beyond "I'm going to buy one, now which color should I get?" Are there people who will actually buy one just because it is in white? If so I would like to meet them...so I can hit them with a haddock.

How much you wanna bet that somewhere some moron will try and spin this to somehow be racist?

OT: Hopefully their will be more sales of the Vita as it is a really good piece of gear.

Well last time sony released a white console they are the ones that made it racist so I'm looking forward to seeing how they do that this time.

Why would a different colour help sales? It's like when I bought a DS Lite, I could have a red one for £99 or a black one for £120, I bought the red one since I know how important money is.

I prefer Black.

But I'd get a Pink one if they ever did one, it'll match my 3DS and PS3 Controller. I like Pink.

Sony: We've got a way to increase sales.

Me: Lower the price on the Vita and the overpriced memory cards?

Sony: Haha, not at all.

Me: Then what? Better games?

Sony: We're making it white.

Me: Ah, so you're selling to the promising demographic of colour blind people who want a Vita, but find Black to be poisonous?

I don't get it. If someone doesn't want a Vita, why would they suddenly rush out to buy one now that the shiny plastic is a different color? The logic behind this business decision makes absolutely no fucking sense.

Its worked before, black 360, red and black Wii, white iPhone.

Seems like a common move these days, wouldnt call it top news. Building up to getting a PS Vita soon, I'll still choose a black one as it will match my shiny PS3.

this is dumb. Releasing more hardware won't make games appear! No-one would own a TV if nothing was ever on...

Let's see...the PSV is having a bit of trouble selling because of a less than great software lineup. The only logical way to fix this is by releasing additional hardware because LOGIC!

In all honesty the white one does look pretty slick. The problem though is that, like the article mentioned, the 3DS released a pink one and saw sales increase but there is still more variety in the Nintendo consoles.
Yes. But there are two key facts to this.

1. The 3DS is backwards compatible so the number of available games are in the hundreds. The Vita has maybe 30 games. And from what I've played, they're lacking.

2. They dropped the price. Realistically, I find the Vita way overpriced. I don't care what its capable of. Its a handheld that costs almost as much as a regular console. I would rather buy another 360 than this.

While the white vita is sexylicous I'd prefer to wait for the inevitable redesign coupled with a price drop.
