i sure the heck don't, i have 80 unread messages. I know 99% of those messages are notices about somebody quoting me that i probably will not answer to unless the topic is heated.

But to be fair to The Escapist I really do apperciate the notices though.

I read and enjoy every single one of my messages. It makes me feel nice that I'm being acknowledged.

I do read em. I would hate tracking down old posts to find out if people responded to me comments.

Exactly. Just yesterday I came home to 13 messages sitting in my inbox since I was gone for over 24 hours. I felt so appreciated...

You can turn off the quote-notice function like I do. That way all I get is correspondance from friends... meaning I always check my mail. It's nice to have the forums to play catch with opinions and discussion, but also be holding a few conversations at the same time in messages.

For someone very RP-centred like myself, it's just handy for keeping track of what needs to be written soon, or sending drafts to yourself, where they are handily stored.

it depends though the message system seems a little cluttered(sp?) to me so it makes it hard for me to use on my crappy laptop

ditto here, although my friends don't talk to me, so all my messages are friends requests, and announcements about badges and promotions from escapist

Awww... :(

I read mine, but it's irritating how Genre Wars sends like two messages every time something happens. But I hate having that flashing red 'You have X messages' laughing at me. Or maybe that's just my OCD acting up again.

I turned off the notifications of quotes and replies ages ago. So yeah, I do check my messages, but they're only stuff like board messages and badges and such.

Was this post just to get you sympathy messages?

Does this mean you won't be readin this?

Don't you like to know when someone continues a debate, or makes a witty comment about your post?

Are you trying to isolate yourself?

Am I asking to many questions?

Yeah, I read 'em. I like getting messages, even if it's just a quote notification. Wastes a few seconds that I would've otherwise spent doing nothing.
