Everyone. I sound pathetic, but subconsciously, I try to impress everyone. I'm so afraid of disapproval that I actually shroud myself in self-imposed disapproval so everyone's expectations are lowered to a point that there's only one place to go. Up.
It's pretty sad introspectively, but oh well. What am I supposed to do about it?

A girl I like. I have been doing this for a LONG time.
So far I have in the last couple years, learned guitar (to a mastery level), started a band (and invited her to our shows), written music for jazz band (largely centered around trumpet because that's what she plays), joined Drama and become a decent actor (because she was in it), as well as a host of other trivial things.
So far none of them have worked. She is impressed, but not impressed enough clearly.
I still don't regret doing these things though, as I am a pretty epic guitarist and that's bound to help me get other girls when I get over this one and go to university.

I am desperately trying to work towards impressing the students of the university I will be going to. If I don't impress them, I'm in for three years of hell. Thing is, I can't just impress them by being a nice person, oh no, that'd be rational. I need to go by their standards, the standards of this messed up society, which means I must look perfect drink alot and be a bit of a dick.

Its genetic to impress people, our drive to impress gains popularity... you see where I'm going with this right? We are social beings, impressing gains status and power and other things we crave. Why does a single celled organism do meoisis? Why do plant life do Osmosis?Sariteiya said:

I live by the theory of "Everyone tries to impress people so if I don't go out of my way to impress people I'll impress them because I'm different from the rest of the people.
I admit to being a showoff now and then. I probably try to impress girls I like too much. However I am a strong believer in putting "my money where my mouth is" so to speak. It's nice to get noticed and talk about something but it's nicer to be acknowledged for actually taking the initiative and doing something.
I'm not TRYING to impress anyone, but I do impress everyone. Because I'm just that fucking awesome.
