Lately my #1 has been switching between two bands, but here is how it currently is:

Now, if anyone doesn't take Avantasia and Edguy as two separate bands because of their close association through Tobias Sammet, I guess you just shift accordingly and #5 would go to either Nightwish or Blind Guardian.

Oh yeah, and these aren't necessarily my favorite songs, but they are at least among my favorites from the band. I don't really have a favorite song with any of these bands.

This is fun because I'm a classic case of not really following music ever since it went digital.

1) Blink 182
2) Green Day

Anything after this could easily change on any give day. Today I'll go with...

3) Dover
4) Sister Hazel
5) Great Big Sea

It's important to mention that the most common type of music I listen to by FAR is instrumental stuff typically from games and movies. The second most common is just a mix of songs from various artists. About half of my non-instrumental playlist is made up of 1 or 2 songs per artist.

I dunno if I could really say I have five bands that are my favorites above all the others, but I guess I'll bite.

I really actually hate to choose just five. But these are five bands that I still find myself listening to after so long (though I can think of a number of other bands I wouldn't mind interchanging with a few of those). And yeah, I guess they're all pretty mainstream. Not that that means much.

Hmm, tough choices. Not sure I could give these in any order, but I think I can whittle my favourite bands down to 5. Here goes:

That was pretty tough; there are definitely a lot of other bands I could put down on here and a load of other brilliant songs to represent the bands I like.

I love so many musicians but choosing 5 actually ended up being pretty easy, these do stand out from the rest in terms of sheer quality.

fun fact: I don't even like Final Fantasy

Let's see... not sure about top 5, these are just some that I enjoy:

1. Linkin Park - Yes, I know, but I enjoy their music, not because I find it "deep" or anything, just enjoyable. And that includes both their new and old stuff, so there. (Favorite Song: tough call, but I'm going with "No More Sorrow" for the time being.

2. Dave Matthews Band - this group is actually one of my dad's favorites, and soon became one of mine. (Favorite Song: "Everyday", gives me the good vibes, y'know?)

3. Gorillaz - Another long time favorite, for both the music and character backstories. (Favorite Song: "Feel Good Inc.", natch)

4. The Protomen - a kickass rock opera based on the Megaman games? What's not to like? (Favorite Song: Probably "The Will of One", if I had to pick from their first album)

5. Weird Al Yankovic - What can I say? I love a bit of fun parody songs. (Favorite Song: "Eeeevvvverything you know is wrong, white is black, up is down and short is long, and everything you thought was so important doesn't matter...")

There are more, these are just off the top of my head.

1. RUSH

2. Faith No More

3. Jane's Addiction

4. Breaking Benjamin

5. Hmm, hard to say. If we're going by length of career and how much I've enjoyed it, probably TOOL, but I also haven't listened to them in a long time, as my personal taste in music has significantly changed since then. I would probably say Juno Reactor instead.

Honorable Mentions:
Limp Bizkit. Say what you want, these guys are damn fun to see live, and I can't help but bounce around and laugh when I hear their music.
Dave Matthew's Band/Pearl Jam/Fishbone They've all got powerful songs that have shaped my soundtrack mind, but I don't have them etched on my soul as a band, so much as for certain songs they've done.

And, yeah that's all I can think of at this point.

This is going to be freakin' haaaaaarrrrddd!!!!!!

1. Iron Maiden
2. Sabaton
3. Pretty Maids
4. Stratovarius
5. Hammerfall

I don't like doing lists like this... basically numbers 1 and 2 are in that order, then the rest I listen to I would like to put all on number 3.
I left out bands like Queensryche, WASP, AxelRudiPell and Nightwish, all which I like a lot, so in my list number 1 and 2 are a given, the rest were just the 3 next that popped into my mind.

3 Muse
4 Red hot chili peppers
5 Nirvana

Honourable mentions go to: Smashing Pumpkins and the Homestuck soundtrack(although there are probably several people responsible for that, I'm not sure)

I do listen to a fairly wide range of music, but my favourites are centred very strongly on 60s/70s rock and folk.

It's been a while!

(Not the Staind song.)

Well, four of the same ones I almost always bring up came to mind immediately, and I'm not really sure if I'm capable of organizing them into a "I like this one better than the others" sort of list. So, in no particular order -

This song almost single-handedly got me into metalcore.

Their work with Dallas Taylor has quite a few great tracks too.

I grew up with mostly pop-punk and alternative rock, and Blink-182 is one of the few bands that has stuck around in my mind no matter what.

I listened to soundscapes and ambient music every now and then when I was younger, because my mother ran a daycare and would often play them to help kids with nap time, but it wasn't until I ran across Keith Kenniff's moniker Helios that my love for the genres was reinvigorated. Really great stuff to chill out and relax with, or to have on in the background when you need to focus on something else.

They put on a hell of a live show.

Though seriously, I know Tommy Giles' vocals are rather an acquired taste, but even despite them having some 15+ minute-long songs, I never get tired of listening to any of them from their 2005 album Alaska onward.

But a fifth one...

I don't really know, because it's just another collection of four that I can't easily whittle down. (For the record they're Norma Jean; Pink Floyd; Oh, Sleeper; and Bring Me The Horizon.)

Pfffft. I cannot give you an accurate list on that, but here's what it roughly is. Not really.

Yes - Awaken

Stravinsky - The Rite Of Spring

Frank Zappa - Strictly Genteel (The Finale) - which isn't on Youtube so here's London Symphony Orchestra version

Genesis - Suppers Ready

Procol Harum - In Held Twas In I

These will challenge you

1. Overkill
The band that brought me to appriciate thrash metal. My friends were die hard thrashers, but I the genre never stuck with me. After rediscovering this band many years later I couldn't stop listening and it got me to explore the genre, where I found many new favorites.
Not my favorite, but this was the first song I heard by them so it seems fitting(it's a cover even D:)

2. Annihilator/Jeff Waters
Awesome thrash, amazing guitar player. Unfortunetly the band got very mainstream and shitty after Dave Padden joined the band. Not a fan of their metalcore direction...

3. Judas Priest
The band that got me into metal in first place. When I heard their Painkiller album I was hooked for life.

4. Dia Psalma
To break a bit from the metalbands I bring you Dia Psalma. A Swedish trallpunk/folkpunk band who I consider the best of them all.

5. Tankard
33 years of songs about beer!
(Empty) Tankard is my favorite, but the Stay Thirsty video is too good to miss.
