Before you ask I live in Australia so people outside of Aus/NZ probably will not understand most of my referencing.

Ok so I just went downstairs and walked passed my parents watching TV. 4 Corners. Guess what's on, that Rugby "Sex Scandal." Now this may be an unpopular opinion, but, I'm sick to death of hearing about all these semi-celebrities (Usually Sports) and how they've fucked up in Life. Honestly I don't care how many times Shane Warne cheated on his wife, what Ben Cousins was on or for how long and I really don't care what Matthew Johns or whoever they are (I live in SA so I'm not a big rugby guy) did to that girl!

Ok I get they fucked up and its not acceptable in normal society, but really why do these "victims" get these tv and media deals just because they fucked a rugby player? In relation to this recent one, it was said it was consensual and when it was investigated like 5 years ago no charges were ever laid. So why is it all coming out now? And honestly Why do we care so much? Ok they fucked up, hurt someone or what ever, so give them the normal sanction whether it be jail or a fine or whatever and let it be done with. But just because they're "famous" there is all this media attention and whoever they've fucked over get ll these media deals and shit. It's the same with the Octuplet woman, she's a fucking idiot, but shes getting all these media deals cos she's retarded.

Basically to sum up. If they broke the law, throw them in jail or fine them or what ever and then shut up. Otherwise, if there is only alligations which 7 years ago where thrown out... Shut the Fuck Up!

Um yeah I'm an epic AFL and cricket fan. (Lions FTW). But ahh not so easy to ignore when every second news story is about it, when even political and sensible programs like "Four Corners" do stories about it (Btw I'm currently watching GNW and am surprised it hasn't come up) and when it is all anyone talks about. You don't need to be a fan of the sport thats hit by it to hear more than enough.

The players need to grow the hell up. It's not acceptable to force women into the kind of situations they do. A bad reflection on the individuals and the clubs. Frankly, I've given up on Television because there's too much of this prolefeed shit on air. If it's not football players it's some celebrity I don't care about going into rehab for an addiction that I personally believe should have killed them anyway.

On a final ranty note, fuck you Heath Ledger. You might have done a good performance, but I didn't care about you before you died and god knows I don't now.

On the topic of rugby players I also hate how anything they do becomes a big deal. So someone on tour gets drunk and pisses in public on the way back to the hotel or makes a rude remark to some fucking minority. All of a sudden he is getting fucking reamed by the press and is forced to make a public apology for such a minor thing.
I don't watch rugby, infact I find it fucking boring and can not for the life of me understand why its our national sport, but even I do not think these guys deserve to be ***** slapped for every tiny little thing wrong they do.
Edit: Also since this thread will draw a few kiwis can someone please tell me how the fuck that piece of shit Shortland Street is still alive? The show was generic and crap back when I was a fucking kid. Last ep I saw was over 10 years ago. Let it die already you assholes!

But um yeah I agree, like I remember a couple of years ago (again Aussies only) Carltons Brendan Fevola was caught taking a leak in front of a pub and it was a big deal. I got caught taking a leak in front of a pub at 2am 2 weeks ago and nobody gave a shit, hell I even wrote my name (for those who don't know Fev wrote his own name in piss on the pubs front window) but its ridiculous cos when a normal person does it nobody cares, yet Fev makes front page news of Adelaides major newspaper ("The Advertiser") and even "The Australian." My point is it's fucked.

Sounds like the Sun or Daily Mail newspapers to me. They are just tabloid newspapers and extremely noxious and cheap. Half the stuff they report on is in no way 'news' at all, and they're extremely biased and stupid. Best to stay away from them...

Well I agree with you that this sensationalism is absolutely annoying and bloody useless and uninteresting. Whenever I see something like this comes up though, my automatic bullshit filter initialises. I'm surprised your post came through (the part about the dude using cheats or something.. The concept celebrity is bad. Glorifying people because they featured in a film, made a nice dance or song, or did a good sporting achievement is bad. Supporting them is okay, but not glorifying. They are not better than you, don't treat them like they are!

News is all based around entertainment, even the "serious" news is edited or written to make it exciting and interesting. At the end of the day the news wants viewers and if it gave the public "real" news it would lose its audience.

It annoys me too. I boycott newspapers and televised news now because 90% of it is irrelevant crap. The internet makes a great crap filter when it comes to news
