I'm going to go with Dragon Age 2 since it is my favorite game of the series:

Varric and Merrill are pretty close together that I can't really decide, so they both are the best. The walking banter between them is some of the best in the game.

Morrigan was the best developed character in either game, imo.

Although, I did like Varric. The second game just didn't really compare to the first.

Gah, don't make me choose! What about Rendon Howe? Psychotic butcher who murders your family, allows his son to rape and pillage the Alienage, and is also voiced by Tim Curry?

Alistair hands down, Witty, friendly, funny, and true to his nature, One of the few characters in DA and DA2 that acctually acted human, 2nd place goes to anders (DA2, Never played awakening) and 3rd varric, both for obvious reasons.

Leliana is my favorite character. She has an idealistic side and a cynical side. She has killed as a bard and saved lives as a priestess. You the player decide which side she ultimatly embraces. Also shes a true romantic who isn't afraid to do some unorthodox loving.

After her I like Alistar, Isabella and Merril in no particular order

I'm not sure, I found Flemeth to be much funnier than expected in DA2. Hawke is easily my favourite, but she's the main character... Um, I liked Bethany too. It's a hard choice, but I would choose someone from DA2, since I only thought Morrigan was good from DA:O

I like Merrill the most.

Asha'bellanar or Flemeth if you like. I just think there is a lot going on with her that the player is unaware of.
Oooh. Forgot about Flemeth. Yeah, she's good too. Likes playing mind games.

My choice is probably Merril. She's just so adorable from her dialogue and cuteness.

Honorable mentions Alistair, Varric and Leliana.

Morrigan, huh? miss " the developers are hoping my breasts will distract you from how much I whine and constantly want to sabotage your efforts"? To each their own, I guess.

From Dragon Age, I did think Alistair was a solid, well rounded character, probably because you have the most time to get to know him out of all the characters.

Dragon Age 2, another vote for Varric. Entertaining and awesome without even trying, and he wasn't a stereotypical dwarf either.

I liked Merril as well. First impressions of her are that she's just naive all round, but I eventually realised that when it came to what she believed was important, she was very much aware of the consequences. Oh, and putting Anders in his place with her "all spirits are dangerous. I know that. I'm sorry you didn't" line was nice too.

The Arishok, because the Qun demands it.
Well played.

Personally my vote goes to Shale. She was just the most awesome thing in Origins :p

Although I really loved Oghren. Not only did he have some awesome one-liners and dialogue but he was also more compelling than he likes to lead on.
