Who Picks The Moderators?

ive been interested in being a red guard for a while now, just no idea how to ask

The process is that when the moderator team think another moderator is needed they think of people that would make a good moderator, and invite them. So moderators don't ask for the position, they get asked if they'd like to do it.

We can probably be bribed though.

I usually have a dislike for Mods in general, but this -doesn't- apply towards the Escapist. I think I just like the Escapist community/mods in general. I've never gotten into an unjust argument with a mod here before, nor have I been rebuked even in places where I could've been (with Malgryis).

But for the -most- part, Mods bother me. This is mostly applicable to places like Gfaqs, where I -SWEAR- they -never- let you appeal moderations, because if you do, no matter how level-headed /kind you are about it, they always refuse to admit they were wrong. Also I highly doubt they were chosen for 'level-headedness/fairness', because they mod on such biased/power-trippy reasoning. They have a 'zero-tolerance'-ish policy, which reminds me of the jerks that work as highschool-'bouncers'.

I was once selected as a Moderator for a smaller website, actually. I was elected because I got along with the SuperModerator and was around when the site first opened. In many cases, it's as simple as that.

First of all, grammatical and spelling ability is a must. Second, you do not ask about FightClub joining the Guard. You are chosen, that is all.
Even I am ineligible because of my strong religious bias, and I have been banned several times before.

i can spell, and when in doubt there is spellcheck =D
also grammar, im pretty good, at least i make sense
and my record is clean, ive never been banned or suspended
and how can you be chosen if its voluntary? im confused

No offense but your grammar is not that great.

Lack of caps at the beginning of your sentences(something I also tend to do when i'm feeling lazy)
No full stops (or periods as they are known in the US)
'I' should always be a cap.
I've, I'm and It's have apostrophes in them.

You mean people do it for reasons other than the unicorn?

Anyway, I doubt I would be good as a mod. I try to be equal but that usually ends up going horribly wrong.

We all do it sometimes... my personal vice is never re-reading over my posts and just hitting 'POST' before realising they're full of typos

Non-voluntary as in "I'd like to be a mod."-"Okie doke you'll do, you start Monday."
Voluntary as in "How would you like to be a mod? You look respectable and your avatar looks like it could decapitate someone if taken out of context."-"Sure thing, I'll ban'n stuff when I have the time."

Giant red letters, several skulls, and cackling would probably have done the trick there quite nicely. Got be careful not to end up giggling instead. Ruins the effect.
