In light of every this months article and everybody who whines I have to say this. Who cares?
While reading this months article and the subsequent posts here I just didn't care. It seems that games now must be non white non male non masculine characters. Maybe I do like playing a 400 pound meat-head who can form poetry with his fists. But in this months article it seems like people all want the limelight. I don't care if Marcus Fenix is homosexual or if Master chief is secretly two Asian midget transsexuals. I really don't care.
But for the love of god just don't do it for the sake of doing it. I do not want to play Call Of Duty 6 and have Soap make sweet love to my character. It doesn't bother me( OK that example kinda does) but I don't want to see it just for the sake of making a minority in the industry happy. If playing as a woman gives huge bonuses to gameplay versus being a male I'll sign up.
One thing I had to agree with in the article was the fable 2 and sims 2 example. I can but I don't have to. But it irked me that they wanted every game to have this feature. Don't get me wrong I love a good story (heavy rain is on my pre order) but sometimes I like seeing things fall to the ground from my bullets.
Point is I am tired of people wanting the spotlight if their ethnicity, gender, orientation isn't the main character. Oh and before you say that my gender, orientation, and ethnicity is most of the characters in games then you haven't read my title.
